great monitor
i had a dell monitor 17 inch bulky monitor. crt tube. Saw this one at staples and jumped on it. Unit is awesome. very easy to hook up. Only 2 things im a little mad about but nothing major. The speakers are weak. if u have a 2.1 system with a sub woofer connected and u add the monitor speakers for say rear sound the 2.1 over powers the monitor speakers. the other downside of the monitor is the viewing angle is just o.k. other than that the widescreen is nice. Light as a feather also. under 5 lbs
good but not great
I've owned this monitor for over 2 years now and for a long time I thought the picture quality of this monitor was great, till I decided to go dual monitor with it next to my SyncMaster 941BW. The differences were apparent, the SyncMaster was more vibrant, and I couldn't get Envision to match up visually with the SyncMaster. Closest I could do was match up the colors as best as I can, usually by decreasing the Red Green Values and increasing Blue, but at the cost of the white levels to be slightly blue tinted, and a noticible loss of Brightness and Contrast. Even with Brightness and Contrast tuned all the way up, it wasn't as vivid as the Syncmasters default settings, Contrast 50% and Brightness 100%.
In general its still a fairly good monitor and i've got a lot of use out of it, but for the money I'd go with the SyncMaster which costs as much or less than this model and IMOP a superior screen.
*another note, when going dual monitor, be sure to stick to the same grade and model, or you might end up with differential screen height from the bast, and visual quality.

Good for gaming
I bought this monitor for my laptop. Not long after I bought my ps3. Originally I did not know there was hdcp support since i ask my brother to help me get it. Apparently there is no staples within 50 miles of my college. The website does not mention hdcp support so i was disappointed but when i went home to pick up the montior, the box says hdcp. When i got back to test this, my ps3 works great with the monitor. The only con is switching between analog and digital is annoying.
