I listened to a sony for $15.00 more than this and the sound was the same, the sony did have a cassette player but who uses it these days?I am very happy with the Emerson, the price with tax was under $38.00 at Sears.

Perfect for the Office

(4 out of 5) by M. Brown on Dec 28, 2008 (Los Angeles, CA USA)
I purchased this radio for my office at work. And it is just right. The sound is clear. It is loud enough. I get almost no static at all. And that's pretty good for a small portable radio. I am able to get all of the stations I want on both AM and FM. I've had mine for about 4 months now. It is a good solid radio for a reasonable price.

I would not recommend this CD player

I am not very impressed with this player, the cd lid gets stuck all the time so I have a hard time retrieving my cd's. The radio stations don't come in very clear, and there is a great deal of static.

Not so great!

Suppose one can't expect much for the price, however:
The CD cover is so hard to puch down (and makes a terrible sound) one thinks the plastic will shatter! The volume would not suffice for the hard of hearing or those who want to "rock on!" Heavy with batteries - that don't last more than a few plays of CDs. Continue your search for a quality product - this isn't it!

Good for Portable CD play Not bad radio

(4 out of 5) by Richard J. Liccione on Feb 28, 2009 (MORRISTOWN, NJ USA)
This is perfect for good enough quality in a and portability, for those who don't want an I Pod. I use it in the gym. Works fine. Also receives radio signals better than I thought it would.
