Costs less, does more, looks way cool.

Mar 8, 2007 - By David Reid (Chicago IL USA)

I was looking for a good set of amplified speakers for my iPod. I found that most products were of the same theme; smooth curvy plastic with a punched metal grill. Boring. No product seemed to have any style that hadn't been copied from page 49 of the "Everyone's Doing It Style Book". Then I came across the Specktone. It was retro. It was cool. It actually had better engineering than every other system I had looked at. It had a more powerful amplifier, it had a remote control, it was LESS EXPENSIVE. I bought one. I tried it out. It was even better than I had hoped. Deep room filling base, great highs, amazing power. I bought 3 more as gifts. Every one was thrilled. I highly recommend this product.

BEST FOR THE PRICE

Jan 10, 2008 - By Richard K. Terry (lake oswego, Or.)

I bought this unit off ebay for $40.00 in the door. I am an audiophile with more than $70,000.00 of audio equipment in the house and bought this on a whim for my girlfriends house who is happy with an AM/FM radio if you know what I mean. First she had no idea how to run an Ipod, smart woman just electroniclly challenged. Plugged it in, plugged in the ipod and off you go. Easiest thing on the plant, sounds great and would loose and arm if I tryed to bring it back to my place. Just bought another tonight for $36.00 including shipping. Oh! This thing looks great and very well built. Beautiful black piano finish. BUY ON YOU WON'T BE SORRY.

Excellent iPod dock

Oct 3, 2008 - By Adam Risi (VT, USA)

The SpeckTone Retro II is an Excellent iPod dock. I originally purchased this dock in the hopes that it could be used with the unmentioned iPod touch (version 1.1.4). I got the dock, dropped my iPod in, and it immediately started charging (I used the dock-adapter that the iPod comes with). Unfortunately, the remote didn't work with the ipod (or so it seemed at first) (yes, it has a remote). I left my ipod in the dock overnight and something magical happened - the remote started working! So now, it is a fully functional iPod touch dock that charges, plays music great, and lacks no intentional features. The sound quality is excellent, and for those of you who care about volume, this will do the trick. It honestly gets louder than some "boom-boxes" that I have seen before, even in the little package. I really have nothing bad to say about this dock - if you are thinking of getting one, get it now!

As a side note, this is most definitely the best price I have seen on one of these docks, trust me, well worth it!
