Absolutely Wonderful!

(5 out of 5) by Therese Szymanski on Nov 18, 2007 (D.C. Area)
I really, really, REALLY love this bag!

I've often had to juggle bags on top of my roller bag, and this one has a built-in throughway for the bag's handle, so it easily connects with and sits on top of both my suitcases as well as my garment bag.

The ability to carry the bag as a backpack or just over one shoulder is also truly marvelous. Wearing it as a backpack reduces back strain, whereas one armed carrying is quick and easy for short trips.

The multitude of pockets make keeping things organized easy (and I love the built-in drink holders -- they truly help keep me hydrated on my trips).

Additionally, the cleverly designed computer pocket helps disguise that it's a computer bag -- just like how carrying it as a backpack might also convince others that it's NOT a computer bag, which is good for security. (You really have to see how the zipper on the computer compartment looks overall to see how it's a good distraction.)

And, I must say, now that I'm getting a bit older, the bum-pads really make this even more comfortable.

I would definitely buy this bag again -- but it looks like it'll easily last years.

Just what I've been looking for

(5 out of 5) by Julia M. George on Aug 7, 2007
I especially love the padded compartment for the laptop. It is easily accessed without opening the flap. There are lots of pockets and a big internal compartment. The straps are very comfortable, especially in backpack mode. I would definitely purchase it again.

Great, but don't overpack it - or get yourself a fitness trainer

I just bought a Large version of the black Hampton bag. I wanted a bag large enough to accommodate my trusty sleeve Brenthaven Edge I Sleeve (Black) for 13" MacBook. The Edge is a bit of a squeeze in the designated computer section, but it does fit, and one can zip the thing up easily at the back. So, I now have my precious Macbook secure.

The pockets are good for some basic accessories. I fit in my Macbook charger, a camera, some batteries, an iPod touch, a Blackberry, and some other odds and ends. I also managed to fit a large file folio and a couple of books very easily, with a bit of space left over for other stuff. However, the more you put in this bag, the more it starts to bulge in the middle, somewhat like a middle aged man who badly needs a trainer.

Talking about trainers, while I do commend the designers for the new backpack system (it does appear to be more ergonomic, and it is very very easy to convert the strap), the bag does weigh you down the more weight you put into it. This is basic physics, ladies and gentlemen. There is nothing any designer can do to reduce the actual weight you put into a bag. Ultimately, you need to really decide how much to punish your poor back or shoulder with. OR, do as I did and get a personal trainer. Maybe in about six months or so, I'll be fit enough to lug a gym on my back. As things stand, I plan to use it as a backpack for short distances, and slot it through the handle of my carry on while at an airport. The slot is slightly small at one end, but it does the job, and the whole thing is very stable and easy to cart.

The quality of the bag is excellent, and everything about it, from the zippers to the clasps, are top notch. The color I have is a nice deep black, with almost the sheen of a black jaguar. It looks rugged, and I especially appreciate the attention to detail. My first impression was that the ladies might not quite like the looks of this thing, but when I spotted my wife's longing gaze, I realized that the designers had probably got their focus groups right.

[...]

Bottom line: I like this bag because it looks professional enough to take to work and hip enough for the weekend. The bag itself is very very well designed, and in my humble opinion, is way better than the Briggs and Reilly, Samsonite, Brentahaven, Timbuk2 alternatives (I tried out every one of them in various stores). The so called ergonomic design is definitely a plus, but ergonomics does not alter the basic laws of gravitation. Don't blame the bag makers. Just pack wisely, and shape out!

The Rugged SUV of Laptop Bags

(5 out of 5) by Anon Ymous on Feb 18, 2008 (San Antonio, Texas)
This bag is great! It has a sort of rugged yet tech sporty style about it that separates it aesthetically from most of today's leather bags that look like purses for your laptop. Leather is nice with high quality and durability, but it lacks the sort of hip rugged styling that I was looking for in my bag. I'm not sure how this would look with a suit on, but it definitely fits my graphic designer-look better than leather or other nylon bags that tend to look a little on the refined typical side.

The patented strap system is easy to modify to your liking (backpack or shoulder strap.) It has plenty of room for my laptop accessories (adapter and cables, wireless mouse, thumb drives, cell phones, water bottle holder, umbrella holder, etc.) The bag also seems to be built pretty well with it's heavy nylon and thorough stitching.

I received a great deal from the Amazon 'seconds' warehouse, so the price was right (I paid about $55) and the bag itself came in great condition; even at $100 (suggested retail price) I'd still pick one of these up, since it has wonderful features, it's ergonomically well thought out, and it has a look that separates it from the throng of other lap top bags - plus if your laptop fits in the neoprene sleeve, it is well hidden within the bag. I unfortunately cannot fit my laptop (MacBook Pro 15" C2D) in the neoprene compartment since I have it in a Speck case and also keep it in a padded Sumo case, but it fits fine in the Messenger compartment with all these additional sleeves and protection devices, so I use the neoprene sleeve for paperwork and other important documents or printed comps (since it's sturdy so it doesn't bind or flex and doesn't scratch print outs.)

Great bag all around and would definitely buy other lines from BBP, as they have a great mesh of style and substance.
