Makes the Sportster worth keeping

(5 out of 5) by Kirk on Jun 20, 2008 (Mililani, HI United States)
I bought the Starmate 4 and installed it using the included fm modulator and antenna. The small metropolis I live in leaves few unused frequencies. Radio worked fine only when not in proximity to interfering items (metal stoplights, power lines, etc). I would rate the radio "audible 65% of the time" in urban driving--unsat overall. I bought the adapter and bided my time. Install was quick, basically shunting the existing fm antenna connection into the radio. I required nothing but the adapter. Now static and interference is gone. This thing does exactly what its supposed to.

Bottom line--if you're buying a satellite radio as an add-on using an fm modulator, buy one of these. Save the shipping and get it at the same time, you WILL need it and it WILL work.

Item not needed if your aftermarket stero has rca inputs!

(5 out of 5) by Eli Bishop on Dec 4, 2008 (virginia)
Greetings, just a heads up before you purchase this. If your stereo has rca aux inputs on the back, you can just get a 1-2 dollar cable and plug it in from the audio out 3.5 jack...get perfect audio with no FM modulation or antenna adapter needed!

As good as it might be

Although this product did not work for me, I had no problem returning it, getting credit and ultimately buying an item that worked for me. My initial thought was that simply bypassing the antenna and connecting an Ipod to the AUX input, the IPod would work. Needless to say, it did not.

Eliminates All Static

(5 out of 5) by Keebler on Sep 24, 2008 (NC, USA)
Was easy to install (if you know how to remove your car radio) and eliminates all static and the need to change FM stations on a long trip. I wouldn't own a Sirius without the direct connection to the car's radio.
