After recently purchasing a Zune MP3 player, I quickly discovered the need to protect the Zune from things that could possibly damage it: scratches to the LCD screen, dropping it, moisture, etc. After reading about and personally viewing various types of protective cases that are available for the Zune, I decided that the Speck Products Zune ToughSkin Case is probably the best protective case currently available. The ToughSkin case is made of flexible, thick, durable rubber, which no only waterproofs the Zune, it also provides some shock absorption if the Zune falls. Also, the ToughSkin case includes a thick, clear plastic screen shield to protect the Zune's LCD screen from scratches. If you are concerned that the Zune might fall out of the case, this cannot happen with the ToughSkin case, as the only way to insert the Zune into it is by stretching the rubber back enough to slide the Zune through the opening that the LCD screen is visible through. Next, you insert the plastic cover over the Zune's LCD screen. Hence, unlike most other Zune cases that have flaps and snaps to keep the Zune inside that, if faulty or accidentally opened, could let the Zune fall out, the ToughSkin case has no flaps or snaps. The only to remove the Zune from the ToughSkin case is to remove the plastic shield, then bend the rubber back and pull the Zune out. Since the ToughSkin case provides access to Zune's screen, headphone port, "freeze" button, computer access port and all of the buttons beneath the display (pressable through the rubber case), there's really no need to take the Zune out of the ToughSkin case.

Hence, if you want to provide what is probably the best protection possible for the Zune from a case, the Speck Products Zune ToughSkin Case is probably the best one available on the market. If you're more interested in a colorful, non-industrial-looking case for your Zune player, then the Speck Products Zune ToughSkin Case is probably not for you. Overall, I rate the Speck Products Zune ToughSkin Case with 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to any Zune owner.

this case is exactly what you need. first off let me say, from the pic's i was kinda worried it would make my zune look big, bulky and ugly, but it totally doesnt. you still have perfect access to the usb port, hold switch and the headphone jack. the buttons are as responsive as before, to me there are no drawbacks at all for the toughskin. i really like the way my zune looks with the toughskin & my co-workers have given postive feedback too. also, the protective screen is clear(i dont know why the pic's here have a blue tint) and hard. this product seems very durable and it will do a splended job of protecting your zune. well worth it!!

I love this case it really does a great job of protecting the Zune. I had another case that I got for Christmas but its not nearly as good as this case. Like other cases that come with screen protectors its not made of cheap plastic, the screen protector it comes with is a nice see thru metal square that fits perfectly into the case once your Zune is in, which is one of the best features of the case. Everything is easily acceesible no flaws or anything of that nature. The case is not as big as the picture makes it seem in face it makes your Zune look alot cooler than it already is but at the same size. My only problem with it is if you have a Zune Travel Case it is a tight fit to stick the Zune case in the travel case otherwise this is one of the best cases I ever bought to bad the ipod can't come out with a case like this. Just because it seems big in the picture doesn't mean it is. Also amazon has amazingly fast shipping, bought it on a Saturday was shipped Monday and I recieved it on Wednesday was very impress with shipping thruogh amazon and I even chose 3-7 business days will definately buy another product an amazon again.

After a few months of research and looking around, I decided to go with the 1st Zune case that had caught my eye, this ToughSkin Case by Speck Products.

I had taken some time to buy it because I was afraid it would make my Zune bulky. I couldn't find a store in my area that carried it, but I did find one for that little iPod and I realized it wouldn't add any bulk to it at all.

The main things I was looking for when I was choosing which case to buy were screen protection, a sturdy belt clip, all-around protection, and style, of course. This case exceeded my expectations on all counts.

The screen protector that it comes with is terrific. It isn't one of those 'stick on' ones, it actually has rubber all around it and fits in the screen opening. It doesn't actually touch the screen, it sits right over it. This is a major plus because those stick on ones get bubbly sometimes. I also like that it doesn't actually touch the screen because if dust does happen to get in between it, it won't push the dust into the screen and cause it to scratch. Any dust that gets in will just move around freely until I get it out or it falls down. Not that any will get in!

The belt clip, which you can take off completely if you want, is very strong and sturdy. It swivels 360 degrees. I clip it to my purse strap, my shirt, my pockets, etc. It also has a release on it so that if I want to keep the clip on my purse strap but take my Zune off, all I have to do is push in the release and slide it off. Since I clip my Zune to so many different things, a strong belt clip was very important. This one definitely does the job!

As far as overall protection goes, this case is terrific. It's rubber. I'm no longer afraid of nicking the Zune into the subway wall or anything. The case also covers the buttons completely but doesn't affect their functionality at all. I have seen other cases that have cut-outs for the buttons and I think that would make them hard to push in since you have to push the case down as well. This case was designed to properly cover them and keep them functional. Since the player slides into the screen opening and then the screen protector goes into that, there's no place for dust and such to get in.

Aside from all of the above, it looks great. Before I purchased it or saw the ones Speck makes for other players I was afraid it'd make the Zune look like a big, ugly, bulky tire. It doesn't add much bulk to it at all, but I don't use it in a docking system or anything and I have seen in other reviews it makes it hard to fit into the docks. All in all it looks pretty cool.

I am very happy with this case. I would recommend it to anyone that buys a Zune. Actually, since Speck makes this same case to fit other players, I'd recommend it to anyone that has a player that Speck makes the ToughSkin for!

We bought our son a Zune for Christmas '06 and I wasn't sure that I could get this before Christmas so bought a typical iPod type joke of a case. But this came in time and it is absolutely amazing! I love the integrated screen protection. It has drop protection on top of scratch protection. I can't think of a single negative. It looks tough, unlike the iPod "foo foo" stuff. He's 14 and has received many compliments from schoolmates. His freshman class of 220 has over 40 Zunies and at least half of them have this Speck case.
