Very Pleased

(5 out of 5) by E. Wilkinson on Dec 22, 2006 (East Northport, NY United States)
I have played around with (DIY) screens for some time, and decided it was time to get a "real" one. This one is of surprisingly good quality for the price. I even dealt with their customer service on a very minor issue and they were excellent.

Note: This screen does not allow remote control signals to pass through it and it muffles sound if the speakers are behind it. Maybe most are that way - I don't know, but it's an important consideration in fitting such a large item into your home theater environment.

One more important consideration is that you need to catch two beams to mount this and it's a 94" span. If your house is like mine, and like most the beams are 16" apart. It worked out fine for me (luckily) I caught a floor joist (lengthways) with 4" lag bolts.

Cannot unreservedly recommend this screen - read further for details

(3 out of 5) by Mike Naughton on Aug 30, 2008 (Washington State)
The screen was inexpensive. I did not expect perfection and did not get it. The screen will not stay down in locked position(s). This does not matter as I am weighing the entire bottom bar down and the tension seems good for the evenness of the screen.
There is a formaldehyde-like smell to screen when extended that is slowly going away. I leave the screen down w/fan and open windows all night. After 2 weeks the smell is still here but is lessened. I think it will be OK in time.

I do like the projected image very much. And the screen has a very smooth surface showing few waves after 2 weeks. I am happy with the screen as a projection surface.
However, I cannot completely recommend this screen. It will do for my situation. For the entire cost (less than $100 including shipping and tax) it was a good purchase (and lesson) for me.

EDIT: After about a month the smell is almost gone. The screen still needs to be secured in the down position but that is not a problem for me. I do like the PQ this screen delivers.

EDIT: After 2 months the smell was completely gone. The screen works well for me.

Good Product at a good price

I use this screen with my Mitsubishi HC4900 1080p projector.
The image is fantastic. The blacks are good, the colors are vibrant, and the image very crisp on this screen.

It's not too heavy and is easy to install.

You get what you pay for

You get what you pay for.

The screen didn't retract when I used it for the first time. I tried and tried and tried, but no luck. After I struggled against it for a whole hour, I decided to send it back. I contacted the seller and they told me I should contact the manufacturer. The manufacturer's response was very quick. The following is what they told me. It maybe works for someone who experiences the same problem as me.

--"...You might try taking the screen off the wall while extended and turn the case upside down (with the help of your friend) and see if the locking mechanism will disengage. Sometimes the screen can become jammed during transit and once freed it will work properly. Inverting the screen will allow gravity to assist rather than just inertia. "

I didn't try this method although I believe it should work. I rolled the screen from the bottom rod and put it on the top of the book shelf before I email the manufacturer. When I was about to try the above method last night, I take it off the book shelf and it just retracted by itself. Maybe it was because the spring recovered after the whole night of rest. Although it can not retract all the way back and leave a little bit screen hanging out of the case, I'm OK with that.

My suggestion is, DO NOT PULL IT ALL THE WAY DOWN, STOP WHEN THE WHITE SCREEN IS OUT OF CASE.

Otherwise, the picture on screen is good, and it does have strong smell as someone mentioned in his/her review.

Bottom line: this is a budget screen, don't expect too much of it. If you can, buy a better model or brand.

Awesome screen for price

(4 out of 5) by Steven M. Weiler on Oct 21, 2007 (Nashville, TN)
Have been using this screen for over a week now and love it. I don't think you could ask for more at this price. The smell will get you for the first hour or two you use it, then it's fine. Some kind of chemical they use in making it.

The mechanisim inside that rolls it up and down can be finiky, but works. I've heard you should keep it rolled up when not in use to keep it from becoming wavy over time. Worse case scenario you could mount this screen to a wood frame and still be saving a couple hunderd bucks at least though.

I say BUY IT. For this price, again, you cannot go wrong.
