compact powerful unit

There is a bass button and another button that will give a virtual surround feel to what you are listening to, a feature not found in many units.
It comes witha carrying pouch and being it runs on batteries or AC it can go everywhere. This was a nice impulsive purchase. As usual, I go to Amazon to see what other reviewers have to say,but since I am the first, I can heartily endorse this system from Akai. The $69.95 Amazon is asking is quite steep. See if your local FYE has it in stock. Nice way to end the year!

My favorite set of speakers
(4 out of 5) by S. Eads on Apr 1, 2009I'm not 100% sure these are my speakers, as I cannot find any manufacturer mark on it, but it looks exactly the same. I LOVE this portable speaker unit. I've had it for almost 3 years now, and it works great. I bought it at an AirForce Base Exchange in Germany, and have toted it around the world.
It's super-portable, super-durable, and has great sound. It's not ipod specific, but that doesn't bother me, and it's alot smaller than any ipod specific one I've seen.
The only problem I have, is that the battery adapter seems to drain the batteries really quick, and doesn't work all that great. But it's not too much of a problem with me, as I always use it with the included AC adaptor.
As soon as I see another one of these, I'm buying it!

Excellent little sound system!

The sound is much more than you would expect from a portable system like this. I have used it mainly for my IPod, but also for watching dvds on my laptop. I like the bass and surround sound features. I agree that the price on Amazon is a bit steep. I'm hoping to pick up another unit and thanks for the other reviewer, I know where to look!
