Fast and reliable

If you need to splice wires together, such as the electronic harness of a new head unit together, nothing could be easier than using this product. This kit contains a pre-selected size of Posi-Twist connectors typically used in car stereo work.

Users take 2 wires, strip about 1/2 inch of insulation away, twist together including the insulation for about an inch, insert into the open half of the connector until the insulation sits snugly against the lower half, trim exposed wire so it just clears the top of the cap, twist on the closed cap, and that's it! The closed cap has an arrowhead that squeezes the wires together.

Pros:

Connectors can be reused. Users can make and break connections easily.

Connections are self insulating. No need to use electrical tape to cover connections.

Less tools. Users do not need to solder, or a crimping tool to make connections, both require connections insulated with electrical tape. You'll need a minimum of only 3 items: a wire stripper, cutter and pliers ... often a stripper may have all 3 functions in one tool.

Make new connections in the field and in tight spaces.

Cons:

The nylon shell can be smashed with a pliers or over tightening.

Bulk.

You can pull apart the connection with strong tugging.

Each connector is about ~ $0.38 US. The device is still patented.

Posi-twists are the equivalent of wire crimped connections, but effectively do the same without crimp tools. They are made of plastic, a polymer of Nylon 66, that are described to meet the environmental requirements specified by SAE J1211. Posi-Products claims the connections are far better than crimping. Invented in 1997, Dunn and & Bradstreet report this 15 person company grosses over $10M annual sales, they must be quite a happy group.

Posi-products manufacturers a wide variety of this style of connectors, with various qualities, grades, and uses. I managed to match this kit with part number PT2026G GRAY.
