corsair flash voyager for win 98

(3 out of 5) by A. Bright on Nov 30, 2009 (albany , ny)
you should not buy this item if you have Win 98 as it requires a special driver. The product ad did not warn the buyer of this requirement. With some difficulty the special driver can be downloaded on the web where it it is obvious this requirement is needed.

Great disappointment

I received the 64GB flash drive two days ago, and I am returning it today. It has given me problems right from the start. I was able to put about 15GB of data on the drive, but it seemed very sluggish when copying the data and playing back small video files. I have had many small and large size flash drives, but none has given me any problems like the Corsair flash drive has. Yesterday my computer did not consistently detect the flash drive, gave me error messages for perfectly common file types like wmv and sometimes crashed. Today there was absolutely nothing I could do with the drive. I could neither add nor erase data, nor format the drive. It said that the drive was write-protected. I checked online in the Corsair forum and found that this write-protect error seemed quite common, and that the technician responding to such complaints said that Corsair would be willing to replace the drive when that happened. I don't think I want to have a piece of equipment that problematic replaced. I bought the Corsair flash drive because the price was right and the reviews were uniformly positive on Amazon. The reviews are kind of misleading, though, because they also or mostly refer to smaller size Corsair flash drives, which might indeed be good. But I can say for sure that the 64GB drive is not.

Zero protection against bending it - just RUBBER surrounding the circuit board

A picture is worth a thousand words, see the customer uploaded image above of the circuitboard removed from the rubber case.

It is just a circuit board surrounded by rubber! I pulled it out one day on accident, it died shortly thereafter. NOT sturdy enough for your pocket. PLUS the rubber ring is just that - stretchy rubber!

PROS: Cheap and fast, just baby it like it made of glass and backup all your data just in case. Corsair kindly replaced it so that was nice...it just isnt a drive you want to c arry with you everywhere.

Perfect

It does what it is exactly supposed to do. This has all my music stored on it that I listen to in my car. Fast, small and has a rubber skin on it for durability. I will probably buy another one soon just for movies I can also play in my car.

Really durable

My parents bought me this for school I was a Digital Arts major so I was dealing with bigger files I needed something bigger and quicker...I absolutely loved this the first week I had it I forgot it in my jeans pocket and washed it. Needless to say it survived unscathed and a bit cleaner. Unfortunately I lost it. But I'm writing this right now because I'm purchasing another one.
