Great camera - don't need the accessory kit

(5 out of 5) by Bobswife on Apr 5, 2007
I studied many cameras before buying. I'm an amateur and wanted something for ease of use. This camera has it all. I takes a little while to really familiarize yourself but worth the time. the close-up feature is terrific for getting clear & close to an item. Low light photos come out good with several settings to chose from, and is easy to do. My only negatives are: I wish it had a shutter stablization. I sometimes have to take several photos to end up with a clear, focused one. Also, I would not get the accessory kit. It's pretty cheap. The battery charger works but the batteries don't really work for very long. Go buy energizer rechargables. 2500 mah and you won't have to keep charging and changing batteries. The tripod is ''dinky'', it works but is very small and flimsy. Better off buying what you need separetly as you really don't need most of the accessory items. Otherwise, if you are looking for a decent, easy to use digital camera this is a good choice.

Canon Powershot A540 - Great Camera for the Money

(5 out of 5) by R. Connor on Mar 13, 2007 (Madison, WI)
I purchased this camera just before leaving for Eleuthera in the Bahamas. It is a replacement for an older 3.2 MP Powershot. I read the manual on the plane and started taking pictures. The LCD screen does not do the pictures justice. They are so much better than they appear on the camera. I purchased the 1GB memory card and we took 300 photos with room to spare. Connecting the camera to a large screen TV at home we were blown away by the quality of the pics. Using the zoom feature while viewing showed the great detail captured. I would like the option of having date/time stamps on the photos. This is a great camera for the money

Good camera for the money

This was purchased as a birthday gift for my 16 year old daughter. She loves the camera. I was a bit disappointed in the accessory kit. I had thought that it would be packaged in a way to give as a gift. It was not. Just a lot of loose pieces in the bottom of the box. Not great for gift giving. The camera itself is good for the money and she is very happy with the gift.

Crisp, Clear Pictures!

(5 out of 5) by lanaiah on Jan 11, 2007 (Wellington, Ohio United States)
I bought this camera for my parents and I've learned that you can never go wrong with Canon! This camera is a little outdated but it still packs a powerful punch and you can't beat the price! It's easy for my parents to understand and it's simple for them to just point & shoot! The image in the LCD monitor is plenty big & easy to see which my parents are greatful for. The pictures come out amazingly crisp & clear too! I have no complaints about this light weight, easy to handle camera! You won't be disappointed with it!
