W-O-W
I compared the Cambridge 740, the Bose Wave, and the Tivoli Audio Music System. They were priced at $349, $499, and $599 respectively. The Cambridge reviews were not that good, especially problems w/ the CD player. The Bose was good, but had no treble and bass controls, and the sound quality was not as 'bright' as I wanted. However, the Tivoli fills a 20'x20' room v-e-r-y well. It has bass and treble controls, a CD that really works, and brilliant highs w/penetrating lows. Yes, I paid $100 more for the Tivoli, but the sound quality is well worth it

Tivoli Audio Music System
I was first introduced to Tivoli radios as I was wandering around Target. As a child my dad was into "HiFi" as it was called in the 50 and 60's. We had one of the original KLH Model Ones. My first Tivoli was a model one. I loved it's simpliciy and the tactle feel of the tuning dial. The Audio Music system is stunning to look at and the sound is rich and full. I wish they could find a way to put a manual tuning dial and I prefer the retro look of the little model one. This unit is easy to operate and brings in distant stations easily. I use the mono function for distant stations and the reception is clear and crisp. I highly recommend this product. It is the Lexus of table radios and nothing I have seen come's close in terms of design and great sound.

HAVEN'T ENJOYED A TABLE RADIO THIS MUCH IN 30 YEARS
And it is certainly more than that, as it's cd player also sounds very very fine. I just received this today and it exceeds my expectations by a long shot.
Great sound, remote & reception-- and it's quite beautiful to boot!
I am spoiled by my "main rig": a 2 channel system that includes a VPI Aries turntable, Marantz model 7 pre-amp, a Naim cd5 cd player, KEF 105.2 speakers, and Grado PS1 and AKG K1000 headphones. This one piece unit is more in league with that fine equipment than with the alternatives; so much so that I did not want to turn it off tonight. My local NPR station was playing some Sinatra just now, and it is the best I've EVER heard him sound from a radio. Before that an alternative station played some REM off "chronic town" followed by "London Calling" and it rocked a large dining room and kitchen very nicely. I love my new radio!
I auditioned everything but the new cambridge soundworks hd unit (which was not shipping yet), and I'm glad I trusted my instincts and the few reviews because this is just fantastic.
Also tried the headphone out and was pleasently surprised at the results
through sony cd3000's and shure e500's. very listenable though I'll bet the line out to a headphone amp will be a large improvement.

Pleased!
Incredible sound from a pricey good looking unit. Only problem - no high def. radiio. Otherwise, worth a look, since it blows both Bose and Cambridge Sound away. Check it out!
