fixing the light

(2 out of 5) by MSW on Dec 4, 2009 (Orlando, FL)
the blue light is way too bright. i solved this problem by opening the cd bay, unscrewing the small screws then removing the hatch. inside you will find a glass screen that displays the black numbers of the clock and behind that is a white board which displays the annoying blue light connected by a red and black wire. if you cut both the red and black wire you will lose the blue light all together. this turned my product from an original 2 rating to a 3.5. i can now sleep again without the blue light staring at me.

Do not buy this!

What an awful item. The digital read out is hard to see. The numbers for the alarm are small and almost impossible to read. The radio alarm never worked. This item was unacceptable and I returned it!

Worst AM reception I have ever experienced.

I wasn't expecting great sound from a $40 radio, but I thought it would be exceptable to use in the kitchen. I have purchased many radios over the years, but I have never had such poor reception until this one. I moved it to different areas of the house and different outlets and I couldn't even tune in the two most powerful local AM stations... just static. And FM, which is usually pretty clear, was't much better. I am so fed up with the cheap crap sold in America now days, I think we've all been taken on a sucker's ride. A $10 transister radio would have worked better. Don't waste your money, time, and frustration on this junk.

Nice features, but light is way too bright

(2 out of 5) by H.S. on Jun 18, 2009
This unit has a lot of nice features, such as radio presets, dual alarms, can play a CD for the alarm, and it can also accept input from an mp3 player.

Unfortunately, the dimmest setting is way too bright. It is the brightest backlight I have seen on an alarm clock. It is too bright to sleep, and so I had to unplug it the first night.

Only useful for three months

(3 out of 5) by Rachel on Apr 5, 2009 (Tennessee)
I received this as a Christmas gift from my parents. I simply wanted a clock radio with a cd player on it and this one seemed great to both me and my mother. The one I had before - a $20 find - worked for five years before the cd player went out. I loved the shape, size, and design of this one, and thought that it would be perfect for my bed side table. It worked fine for about three months, but I can no longer set the alarms or the actual time. I had to unplug it from the wall several times last night to reset the time, but it wouldn't let me set the alarms for this morning. I had to use my cell phone instead. I'm going back to my old alarm clock until I can find another one.

I'm sad to lose an item that I love the design of, and I actually like the LCD light, but it's definitely not worth the $40 that my parents spent.

I contacted customer service this morning about the situation. I never got the warranty (and I didn't with my old alarm clock/cd player either), but hopefully I can get some kind of assistance.
