TEAC used to be better

(2 out of 5) by Dreamer on Feb 25, 2009 (Everett, Washington United States)
The first player received would not open the carrousel and the unit had loose items inside it. It was returned. The second unit worked well, for maybe five times. The carrousel would refuse to completely open, then refused to completely close. Unplugging the unit from AC power and plugging it back in seemed to cure this problem each time, but that actually is something I prefer not to have to do. The remote seems to need a bit more attention in the design since some buttons don't work every time. But, audio quality is on par with TEAC. I would not say that product quality, in as much as mechanical design, appearance, or remote control functions, are anywhere close to what I would expect from TEAC. Although it does seem to be an appropriate product coming out of a manufacturing facility located in a chinese prison. I cannot believe that a company such as TEAC would lower its standards to have its products produced by anyone other than their own people. This is the last TEAC product I will ever purchase.

Plays CD-Rs with no problem

(5 out of 5) by Jean R. on Nov 5, 2008 (Key West FL)
This is a very nice digital CD player for the price and it will play copies of original CDs, i.e. CD-Rs made on your computer. I purchased this unit because my DVD player which is suppose to play CDs, CD-Rs and MP3s does not do a very good job on my copies of my original CDs. The DVD player seems to hang alot on copies. So I was looking for a CD changer that would play all types of CDs, whether copied or original and MP3's. This unit plays all my copied CDs with out any flaws, hangs or skips. It also has two types of digital outputs, one coaxial and one optical. Since I was hooking this unit up to my digital amp, I wanted a digital output. You can't beat this unit for the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a digital CD changer.

No remote power button

(4 out of 5) by Carl Moore on Sep 15, 2008
So far the unit has performed flawlessly as far as playing CDs go. I have not tried the MP3 playback feature. This is the first piece of electronic gear that I have purchased that does not have a power button on the remote. A relatively minor inconvenience, but still kind of quirky in this day of feature overkill. I would like to see a display of the CD name/s so I wouldn't have to cycle through the CDs to find the one I want to hear.

CD CAROUSEL

(5 out of 5) by Yvonne Hults on Dec 3, 2009 (Albuquerque, NM USA)
The CD Carousel was supposed to be out of stock and not shipped until January 2010, but I received within 7-10 days of order. Perfect condition. Great sound...

don't buy this product

It simply did not work out of the box. I should have heeded the other reviews that said the same thing.
