Looking for portable XM mini tuner radios

(4 out of 5) by S. Butler on Mar 29, 2009
I bought the mini tuner and home docking unit to go with my new home theater receiver. It works very well. It then occured to me to get a portable radio to move around with me from home to vehicle, and while traveling out of town. I have not been able to find one. Amazon and Audiovox advertise that there are portable radios out there, but the closest I came was an Eton Shortwave table-top radio costing $500. Can someone tell me where these alleged portable radios can be purchased? There are all kinds of self-contained portable XM radios at low cost, but they all require a separate XM subscription frome my mini tuner subscription. As soon as someone comes out with a mini tuner compatible portable XM radio for under $100. I will buy it.

This product worked as promised. It plugged directly into my reciever. Displayed all of the relevent information. It got excellent reception. No need to place the antenna in the window.

Probably a good product, but make sure you need it!

(2 out of 5) by Julie on Mar 21, 2008 (New York, NY)
I purchased the XM home docking kit and tuner under the impression I could use the tuner in a portable device as well as with my home stereo system. It turns out that most, if not all, of the portable devices out there already have a built in tuner and come with a home docking station. Therefore it only makes sense to purchase the home docking kit and tuner if you don't plan on buying a portable receiver. Luckily Amazon customer service is awesome and they are taking the device back. Thanks Amazon, great as always!

Works but issues getting it to work

(3 out of 5) by Vince E. Williams Sr. on Mar 24, 2007
The Mini Tunner couldn't be refreshed over the internet.
Had to call and stay on hold with XM for about twenty minutes
Once it was on, it worked fine
