Pioneer VSX-1016TXV ROCKS!!!

(5 out of 5) by M. Cook on Sep 15, 2007 (Pontiac, MI USA)
Awesome receiver. Own the 1015, and this product is just as good, plus has the pass through HDMI connections. Used with a Pioneer 60" Plasma TV. Running Polk 5.1 surround speakers. The mcacc (I think that's it?) is priceless for calibrating the speakers. A little tweaking may be necessary, but it gets you to clear surround sound, reactivity, color, etc. Powerful enough for my purpose, and absolutely wonderful price. Hate to sound like a broken recording, but Pioneer has out done themselves again. If you would really like to spend more, check into the higher end Elite models Pioneer makes. For the money, much better and easier to use than Denon, Sony, etc.

Good system, minor inconveniences

(4 out of 5) by Knobber on Jul 30, 2007 (Las Vegas)
Overall a good system so far, however the instructions are not very clear and can be confusing (even for an engineer). The design of the speaker wire connections on the back of the receiver are a nightmare for bare wire speaker cables. You practically have to stand on your head to get a secure connection.

Pioneer VSX-1016TXV-K

Nice and powerful receiver. I got also a pair of NS 777 and they are just match each other in terms of quality of the sound.
Some reported inconveniences in HDMI connections, but at the end you just need to be a little bit more creative to overcome these inconveniences and you would be rewarded with great sound for the money. Recommend.

Surprised this is a pioneer product.

(5 out of 5) by Adam Chandley on Jun 26, 2007 (Johnson City, TN)
I'm not one to write reviews, or especially long drawn out critiques. The short list:

Perks:
More than ample power at most any listening level
THX2, Prologic II, 7.1
HDMI/Comp/Svid/RCA control/conversion
Beautiful
Heavy and sturdy

Cons:
Onscreen menu graphics are odyssey-era
limited front inputs.

Great value

(5 out of 5) by Bach Nguyen on Jan 10, 2007 (Sacramento, CA)
low price for a lot of great features:

A great sounding reciever with easy auto sound calibration. I also like the 2 passthru HDMI port, basically giving me an extra HDMI port and my TV can do the upconverting. Can't go wrong with this purchase.
