Holy WOW

(5 out of 5) by Mykle D. Williams on Nov 24, 2009
This speaker system is one of the best I have heard...........................

I spent a day with my receiver doing auto settings, but when I tweaked everything to my liking,............................well just wow!!

they may be small, but don't be fooled by their size, this system rocks like you wouldn't believe........................

if you are even considering buying these speakers for the price..............................DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Speakers for the Money HANDS DOWN!!!!

Dont listen to any of the reviews that say these speakers do not work extremely well with music. i have a Pioneer vsx-919 receiver and just tweaking the speakers one by one will produce amazing results the clarity is insane for movies as well as music, look no further! i researched for 2 weeks looking for good quality speakers and i found these.i tested these puppies out with my receiver and i cant believe how good they sound. word of advice dont make up your mind about how good they sound till you learn how to tweak them. and as far as the wires that the speakers bring i wouldnt change them. regardless if there a tad bit small they still handle the speakers well so no need to buy bigger wires. BUY THE SPEAKERS, the only buy without any cons and for the money you wont regret it!!

Onkyo Speakers

(3 out of 5) by M. Thomas on Nov 5, 2009
This is a good starter set with solid basic sound, but you get what you pay for. The included speaker wire is color coded but a cheap grade. The mounting hardware on the back of the book shelf speakers are very basic and can not be used with any mounting hardware. You will have to drill new holes to mount these. Overall not a bad set for the price but do not expect some great bargin.

Excellent for down-sizing equip

I have a Dennon 2808CI 7.1 receiver and had older Bose seriesII front speakers with older bose 301 or > series, and found it to bulky due too space concerns.

The ONKYO speakers were the right size and price, plus the sound quality is good.

In the future, when it comes to an amplifier upgrade ONKYO is #1 on my list.

Test speakers turned into a permanent deal for me.

Here is my deal. I made a home theater out of my living room. I have a Epson 6500UB Projector with sony PS3 and Yamaha RX-V3900 receiver projecting onto my 110 inch screen. I knew I was going to have a sound problem as one end of my living room is open. My wife and I went to a couple of High end sound stores and listened to the speaker systems in the $2000-3000 range. After having blown almost my whole budget I decided to check out what I could buy cheap until I could afford a good set of speakers. So you guessed it onto Amazon and check out the reviews. I found this set which with shipping was under $300.
The speakers. I did not use the speaker wire provided as I had already run good quality wire to my speaker locations. I hooked em up following the recomended speaker placement and ran the auto setup on my receiver. Threw the Transformers Blu-ray into the PS3 and could not belive what I was hearing. I am not saying these speakers are as good as a $2000 set but I must say they are very good. I have had them for 9 months now and my wife has been sure I was going to blow them up on many occasions. I like it LOUD. I just keep laughing as I crank up the volume. I have yet to destroy them. I have had many friends over for movie night and eveyone has walked away amazed. If I ever destroy them I am going to buy another set. One last thing, the Sub does do a good job if you have it placed fairly close to your seating area other wise it is a little weak. I may just buy another set to get an extra Sub and run a pair of em.
You can not go wrong at this price.
