Great Radio

(5 out of 5) by Georgia A. Thomas on May 2, 2009
I think that this is a excellent Weather Alert radio because it serves it purpose and is easy to operate. My last Weather Alert radio was just to complicated, even in just using the clock radio features. It was a Reecom and even gave child alerts but programming was a major job. This one gives you just local weather alerts and that is what is needed in an emergency. The AM receiver is very good because it is the first radio that I get numerous stations at my location. I live in a low area about 200 feet below hills on both sides of my house. It does very well. The FM band is excellent. The quality of the sound is between very good and great. The clock radio function is excellent. The only downside is no handle and what I feel is less than satisfactory instructions. Otherwise, if you need a NOAA Weather Alert Radio this is an excellent choice.

MY DREAM RADIO

(5 out of 5) by Amazon Customer on Apr 10, 2009
I GO TO SLEEP WITH IT ON AND LISTEN TO IT WHEN I CAN'T SLEEP. I lOVE THE QUALITY AND STURDINESS. ONLY WISH IT HAD A HANDLE LIKE A PORTABLE TO MAKE IT EASIER TO PICK UP BECAUSE IT IS HEAVY. WILL ALWAYS PURCHASE THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT FROM C.CRANE. I HAVE THE EAR PAD PLUG UNDER MY PILLOW, TOO. EVERYTHING IS GOOD FROM C. CRANE.

good solid radio

(4 out of 5) by Monte on Jan 19, 2009
I've owned this unit for about a year. I go to bed to it (sleep function) and get up with it (alarm/radio) almost daily. 80% NPR and 20% classic rock.

Pros: Good am/fm reception. A/C and D/C power options and timed backlit display are necessary for use as alarm clock. A/C plug is included. Speaker is fully adequate. Stereo headphone output is nice feature. Case quality is good and rubberized buttons are a nice touch. Good to have at least one weather-band radio at home.

Cons: Ocassional unexpected behavior regarding alarm: I set radio and get buzzer or vice versa. Rare enough and easily dealt with so as to not outweight the positives for me. I could use more than 5 FM presets--minor compliant. Analog TV reception feature no longer relevant in US after February 2009.

There are lots of cheap radios being sold at big box stores that provide very lousy reception. This is not one of them. Lots of great features wrapped up into a solid, quality product. Difficult to find a similar set of features in a comparable product at this pricepoint.

AM Radio

(3 out of 5) by David Down on Oct 19, 2008 (Leesburg, VA USA)
I am satisfied with the radio. The am reception unfortunatly is not much better than the radio I have had for 20 years. I think I expected to much .

Great radio

(5 out of 5) by D. Fields on Oct 12, 2008 (Maryland)
Great clock/power outage radio. I was looking for better reception and this radio has great reception. Also needed something for frequent power outages and it meets that need. Very easy to use.
