Extra USB ports without the extra desk clutter

(5 out of 5) by G. Bartley on Mar 24, 2008 (Chattanooga, TN)
I needed some easily accessible USB ports on one of my computers but didn't want to hassle with an external USB hub with an extra power cord or cables running everywhere. This hub is just perfect. It takes up that 3.5" bay that is never used any more and is easy to install. You install the hub into the 3.5" bay, run the cable through the inside of the computer, out the back of the case (it comes with an "blank" with a hole in it for the cable to go through) and plugs into one of the USB ports on the back of your computer. After that, it's all plug and play. Works great for PC or Mac.

Great internal USB port...

(5 out of 5) by Vee on Feb 16, 2008 (NY)
I looked everywhere for a front USB hub. I hate the idea of having to reach around the back of the computer to use the other USB ports and the two front USB ports are always in use. I also hate having to depend on my external USB hub because my hub has problems reading some devices such as the ones that have to be connected directly to the computer itself. So adding four more ports in the front is a welcome addition. All I used to find were USB hubs for the back of the computer. When I did find front USB hubs, they were almost always sold out, overpriced or the wrong color. I was glad to find one on this site for such a reasonable price.

The Cables To Go 4-PORT USB 2.0 Front-bay Hub is a great product. It was surprisingly easy to install. Once installed, it was up and running in no time. It works just as if it had come with the computer all along. My tower is black and silver so the port's black color fits in nicely. It's truly plug 'n' play. The data speed is fast. I've plugged in everything, cameras, my ipod, blackberry, portable printer, portable hard drive, etc. No problems at all. Even devices my external USB hub has problems reading, this port does. Good deal.

4 Port USB Hub Operation

(1 out of 5) by T. Kobayashi on Nov 15, 2009 (USA)
I found that the only way to use the 4 port usb hub is to power up the computer first, then plug in the 4 port hub in the back of my PC (where the only usb ports exist). This essentially defeats the purpose of trying to make the usb ports available on the front of the PC. If you have had this problem or have any suggestions, please post here. Thanks.

excally what i needed
If you need access to your usb ports on the front of your box, this is the way to go. Downloads and uploads to itunes and usb hard drive back ups are WAY faster than USB 1.0.
Very easy to install and has a couple of nice features like insert wtih a hole for the wire and a nice long cable.
