Great Picture and Value

(5 out of 5) by SRR on Sep 25, 2006 (Chicago)
This LCD TV with true 1080 HD has a fantastic picture. At $2400 it beats any plasma I saw. Set-up was fairly easy. The included remote is nothing special. I use my sattelite remote anyway. You can get an HDMI
cord online for about $15. I would not spend any more. The quote "high-end" cables are not any better. At a severe side angle the picture is not
as sharp, but still good. The universal mount I bought at amazon also worked fine. I was a bit concerned with the Westinghouse Brand not being
known as an HDTV leader, but I've had this set for 2 months now and I am very pleased. Sports and HD movies look great. Add to that an upscaling
DVD player and you're set for lots of great viewing.

Great TV

(5 out of 5) by Peter Hutnick on Apr 5, 2007 (Denver, Colorado United States)
I just got this TV yesterday. (Went with Newegg because they had it in stock.)

I'm using it with a Mac Mini on DVI and an Xbox 360 over VGA, both at 1080p60.

The picture is gorgeous. It's brighter than I expected. I'll probably turn the backlight down. Lots of connections and 1080p make it future-proof.

Three little gripes. 1. The mounting holes are rather close together for a TV of this size, both vertically and horizontally. 2. It is not at all obvious how to remove the base for wall mounting, and it isn't explained in the manual. 3. Said manual isn't included. (It's available on the Westinghouse site in PDF.)

Turns out the base is held on by four screws. The one closest to the power plug, the one right below it, and the two corresponding screws on the other side.

Anyway, great TV. Unbeatable at ~1900 bucks shipped.

The Best Screen a Videophile can buy!!

(5 out of 5) by G. V. M on Apr 7, 2007 (Balamb Garden)
I own this LCD and before buying it I compared just about all available models. This is
visually THE BEST screen I have ever seen and it is the only one that contains VGA, DVI and
HDMI. It has 6.5 ms response, and it is perfect for connecting to a computer, and gaming.
The contrast ratio is not the best however, but it is good. The color is extremely vivid.
One of the best things I have bought in my life. You will never regret it!

Best Bang for Your Buck

(5 out of 5) by M. Schaper on May 28, 2007
About a year and a half ago, I purchased a 32 inch Westinghouse LCD TV for the bedroom. This TV had a better HD picture than any of the other big name models and I have been extremely satisified with it. I have an HD Cable Box, DVD, Media PC, and a Video Game hooked up to it. The picture quality is fantastic. I cannot comment on the speakers as I use and external stereo.

I purchased the 47 inch Westinghouse after my Sony HD TV of 5 years went dead and would cost more to repair than I purchased the Westinghouse for.

This TV looks great in 720p and 1020p. Analog Channels suffer a little as with all HD TVs. The fill mode works nicely for those who don't like to stretch 4:3 broadcasts into 16:9.

Pros:
1) Great Picture
2) Plenty of Inputs for DVI, HDMI, Component, Svideo, Analog, etc.
3) Cost -- A Sony or Samsung would cost twice as much and would not be any better
4) Styling -- I find the simply styling to be very nice and not overstated.

Cons:
1) Remote is basic. However, not many people are going to be using the remote other than to teach your Universal Remote the codes.
2) IR Sensor -- IR Sensor sometimes has trouble waking up when you try to turn it on. My advice is to get a remote with a strong IR such a Home Theater Master MX series.
3) Menus -- The menus are very complete but are very small due to te high resolution. However, you really shouldn't hardly ever need to use the menu after initial setup.

Overall Rating (5 stars here / 92 percent)

I would advice people to forget about the name recognition and actually take a look at which looks the best and which is the best for the money. There was a nice $5000 Pioneer Plasma I liked while the picture was better, it was not worth the $3500 more especially considering the issues that Plasma have had. LCD never seem to go dead. They are generally ranked at about 100,000 hours (23 years at 8 hours a day).

One last point. This is technically a monitor because it only has an analog tuner and not a ATSC tuner. Who needs a ATSC tuner unless you are planning on hooking up a HD Antenna and picking up local station in HD. My cable company provides me with the HD local channels and Satellite generally does the same. i would have been if they would not even included the analog tuner as it is not needed IMO.

Do your own due dillegence but I personally find this to be great quality at a great price.

Simply Stunning

(5 out of 5) by R. White on Apr 8, 2007 (Indianapolis)
I have owned this set for about six months now and I still marvel at the picture quality. Paired with a Comcast HD_DVR, it is a sight to behold. My friends and family love it so much, four of them have bought the same model.

As others have stated, the remote is almost laughable. But that is of little consequece. If you are interested in a monitor like this, it is meant as a component in a home theater setup anyway. You'll end up using a third party universal remote. My Comcast remote works well with it.

Dollar for dollar, I can not imagine a better deal than this thing. It has the features of sets typically costing 3000-4000 dollars.
