Lousy speakers

(1 out of 5) by David A. Westfall on Nov 18, 2009 (Upper Peninsula)
It took over an hour to get them to work. After one month they're out, no sound. Buy any other brand.

Remarkably effective

These speakers are remarkably effective for their size. I really like the fact that they're USB powered and do not need a separate power supply. For my needs, they're perfect.

not half bad

(4 out of 5) by Christopher Brown on Sep 12, 2009 (the nomadic lifestyle)
I bought these as a set of road speakers to replace a pair that I bought in Korea and loaned to my daughter, never to see them again. There is nothing especially fancy about these little Johnsons, but they are compact, functional, and very reasonably priced. I used to be a serious audiophile and still appreciate fidelity; a quality of which these speakers are not entirely deficient. They whip out some decent and acceptable dynamics and do not make objectionable distortions or anything like that. These should not be your only speakers and if they are, you have higher priority issues than your choice of speakers, but they are quite ok for jacking into a portable computer in a hotel, or for duties of that sort.

Solved my speaker problem at my work desk

(5 out of 5) by Florida Beachcomber on Sep 10, 2009
These little speakers are great - solved my problem of having bad speakers on my laptop, and they're small, portable, and understated enough to sit at my desk at work without overwhelming the small space (and bugging my co-workers). They're light enough to travel with, and have a little case too. Love them so far.

Serious upgrade for your laptop

I use these with a Macbook Pro running Windows 7 in VMWare. Just plugged it in and works for both the Mac and the virtual machine. Great sound and much louder than the built-in speakers.

Also very portable if you need to haul something around for presentation purposes or such.
