Didn't get what I ordered

(1 out of 5) by Ergin Guney on Jan 26, 2009 (San Francisco, CA, USA)
I ordered this product through Amazon and received it from "Hi-Tech Savings". Unfortunately, what I ordered was not what I received. I got a wide-angle adapter lens with the correct mount diameter, but what I got was a "Digital Visions" 0.5X adapter (in black); not the 0.45X Merkury "Professional Series" Titanium adapter (in metallic gray) as described here. (Incidentally, its quality also turned out to be much worse than some of the samples of the Merkury adapter that I had seen online.) I'm not going to bother with claiming or returning it, because it's not worth my time at this dirt cheap price (I'll just buy the right one from somewhere else), but I just wanted to let this be know to anyone else who might be interested in ordering this. So, beware!...

not too bad for the price

I purchased this and the Merkury 52mm 2X telephoto converters for my Panasonic DMC-FZ7 (an awesomely fun little camera). The wide angle does a decent job without too much distortion. There is some, so don't plan on 8x10 prints. Works best if you take in 10% extra around the image then crop down 10%. The distortion is most noticeable near the edges. Don't bother buying this for any camera that costs more than $300 or you will probably be disappointed how much it degrades the quality. All in all, within it's limitations for P&S cameras, it works good.
