Great ONKYO receiver for the $$$$!

(5 out of 5) by William Wallace on Mar 26, 2008 (Columbia, SC)
If you are looking for a great amp without a $200+ price tag this is your model. I used this amp for a basic application in a small room. The sound is clean for music and for movies. I also really like the five channel stereo DSP(digital sound processing) mode so I can listen to all my speakers while listening to music or TV without surround effects. I wish the remote had more of a universal application, but it is still laid out well for controlling the functions of the receiver. The digital inputs are assignable and the layout of the receiver is simple and intuitive. This is great for a novice or just for a basic application. You can't go wrong with ONKYO.

Awesome Product

great product for a low cost. Don't let the low cost scare you away though. When plugged in through the optical or coaxial ports this reciever pumps out crystal clear dolby digital 5.1. Awesome.

Quality product at a good price

Easy to set up. Excellent sound and lots of power for my small system. Sound field options are limited (especially in stereo mode)but controls, including the remote are simple and intuitive. Great value.

wow, delivery was FAST!

The Onkyo tuner was delivered to my door in less than 2 hours. The price was right. I have trouble with it shutting down when I turn up the volume any where close to the max. Is this normal? My technique tuner I owned for 25 years had MUCH more power.

Very disappointed

Onkyo TX-SR304S 5.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Silver)

I was excited when I bought this Onkyo receiver because it was supposed to be one of the better brands. However, 6 months later, I brought it in for warranty repair because the woofer channel didn't work. Now after another 6 months or so, the center channel would not work. I know it's the channel that's not working not the center speaker itself because I did some testing. It's probably out of warranty, so I'm out the cost of repair which is $80. The one that I bought is black not silver. I am very disappointed and would probably never buy another Onkyo product.
