Seriously thinking about getting one more Dynamo

(5 out of 5) by David Q. Trinh on Nov 29, 2009 (CA)
Typically, the smaller the sub the less capable it is, or you have to pay a lot of money for high-end small subs. The Dynamo somewhat defies this rule. I paid [...] for this sub at a Black Friday sale 3 years ago. It has been one of my best AV purchases. The bass is silky smooth, punchy and deep. How does it compare to similarly priced subs? I had an opportunity to listen to an HSU sub and chose the Dynamo over that sub. Once in a while you will hear from people who don't even own this sub saying that it is only good for music and not for movies. Well I am telling you it is great for both music and movies. It's a bargain [...].

Additional thought: a great sub will sound like crap in the wrong location; it really pays to set up your sub properly; it took me a week to find the best location for my Dynamo.

best bang for buck around

(5 out of 5) by John R. Logan on Oct 18, 2009 (raleigh, NC)
owned several higher-end products (including the Descent, but had to downsize) and this is a great little sub that far outclasses it's competitors. Terribly unfortunate that ML has decided not to continue this product and has in fact, put the Dynamo 500 in it's place (an inferior, "best-buy" type sub to be sure).

purchased one a few months ago and was delighted, compared it to a dynamo 500, which of course, went straight back to the dealer after less than 2 days' worth of auditioning. planning on purchasing another Dynamo so that I can have Stereo subs.

this sub has great versatility and as other reviewers have noted, it has many of the features and build-quality that are present in much more expensive subs.

Summary: if you have 3 grand or more to spend, get the Descent. otherwise, get this little jewel and think of the money you'll save and how much happier the wife will be!

Beautiful sub

(5 out of 5) by Dav0id on Oct 7, 2009 (Seattle, WA)
I've owned this sub for 3 years now, and absolutely love it. I hate subs that rattle, or decide to be ridiculously loud at inappropriate times. This is not one of those. This one keeps it cool until it is summoned, at which point it creates smooth, very loud, tight bass. The fact that it converts between downfiring and frontfiring is a really cool bonus.

To make it more unbelievable, this thing is on a 50% goldbox sale right now! If you see this in time, and are even _considering_ buying it, trust me, at 50% off of an already reasonable price, do not pass it up!

I got this on Amazon when it was a Gold Box special for $324.00 not knowing what to expect for that price. This unit is,in a word....... stunning. Unobtrusive but definitely there when called on. I just got my Beatles remaster and this sub just makes them a real pleasure to listen to. The quality of the unit seems to be outstanding and set up was a piece of cake. All good here!

I was looking for a sub that didn't rattle the china closet, but yet moved the air like a thunder clap, when needed. I finally found her. Wow ! What a find for the price. I'm glad I took my time and searched with care. It paid off.....BIG TIME! I really am satisfied with my purchase and so will you.
