Great Antenae

(5 out of 5) by William A. Towner on Jun 8, 2007 (Rochester, NY)
Bought this antenna for my sailboat, installed on the masthead no problem and once the boat was in the water was able to test it out, has worked perfectly and i am very happy with it, price was one third the price at the boat store for a similar antenna

Great antenna

This antenna is great. It's not obtrusive, or unsightly. Easy to install and remove and gets great range.

No ground plane needed

(5 out of 5) by Ward Starring on Feb 21, 2009 (Bremerton, Washington United States)
I bought this antenna for a base station but was concerned that I would need a ground plane as in most other transmitter antennas. I installed this atop my television antenna pole(yup, still use it) and had to run 54-feet of RG-58A/U coax to the radio. After installation I tested the antenna with a VHF VSWR meter and found a 1.5:1 ratio, which is awesome considering the length of coax and where the antenna is mounted. I didn't have to adjust anything on the antenna, just put the whip in with the provided allen wrench and mounted the pole... pretty simple and no hassle.

For the money, I don't think you can go wrong with this little guy and the 6dB gain equates to 100Watts effective transmitter power from a 25Watt radio.

Easy tosetup, cables are easy to find in Hawaii, mounted iton the boat, sprayed it with some anti-corosion spray and it worked just fine.

Works well, could be better if better quality stainless

(4 out of 5) by Paul E. Davis on Jul 14, 2008 (Seattle, WA United States)
I have this mounted on the masthead of my Compac16.
The antennae works well but, I have noticed some oxidation. It makes me wonder about the quality of the stainless steel used. I'm rinsing after use now.

Otherwise, nothing bad too say.
