Harmony 885 Remote Control

Jul 13, 2006 - By Michael Wheeler (Olympia, WA USA)

This device works as advertised. I replaced 5 remotes with it. It
is a little tricky to incorporate all the sub-level commands like
skip, fast forward, reverse etc. but with the help of their tech.
group I now can do everything I could with the 5. And yes, their
help desk responds quickly via email and if they can't solve the
problem they assign a control number and refer you to the phone
help (800 number). It might take awhile to get with a rep. but
once you do they stay with you until the problem is solved. Their
website is also very complete and once you understand how to navigate it, you can fix most things yourself. The best I've found.

Awsome remote!

Aug 26, 2006 - By Mank

Bought the remote a couple days ago after researching on internet for easy to program and easy use remotes. I had problems getting the inputs set up for the tv and the various components. I sent email to customer service and then called the number and they were awsome in solving the problem. They did everything over the internet and updated the remote over the internent and it worked GREAT!

Great remote and easy to configure

Feb 14, 2007 - By J. Turkel (Los Angeles, CA USA)

I bought one of these units to control my rather elaborate home theater system, which includes a high-end pre-amp/processor, DVD, DirecTV HD DVR, VHS, and HD TV. It works flawlessly.

Configuring the unit via USB with my Macintosh was simple and intuitive. They could slightly improve the navigation of the online control panel for tweeking the remote functions, but it all works well. The database of remote control commands, listed by make and model, is impressively comprehensive. It worked well on the first trial; after two minor adjustments, it was and remains perfect after three months of use. Now, with the touch of one button, everything comes on and I'm watching DirecTV. With another touch, I'm watching the DVD, and with yet another single touch it's all shut off.

I liked it so much, I got another identical remote for my bedroom AV/DVR system. Well done, Logitech.

The only very slight detractor is that, if the charger cradle is not on a perfectly flat, level surface, you sometimes have to rest something small on the remote to ensure it maintains its connection and charges.
