Great upgrade from a desktop!

(5 out of 5) by Nicholas J. Vertucci on Jul 5, 2006 (Flushing, NY United States)
After always owning a desktop since the beginning of time, I finally decided I wanted to trade in my computer desk, clunky CPU and everything else for a compact machine that can still meet all my needs.

After much research I went with this HP and have not been disappointed. It has every feature and port needed to meet all your entertainment needs whether it's downloading music or playing videos and the widescreen HD monitor looks as good as my Samsung HDTV.

The only negative is with getting a 17-inch widescreen you also are getting 8 pounds of weight. This is why I say this laptop should be a desktop upgrade. You're most likely not going to enjoy lugging this thing around but on your table or while lying in bed, using this HP will leave you delighted.

Just The Ticket

(5 out of 5) by C. C. Mantis on Oct 21, 2006 (Seattle)
Ok -- so these 17" Widescreen notebooks are big -- to say the least, but if you want something that you can move around the house with -- like I do, while still having all the power of a desktop, then this is the puppy.

I've got an older HP ze1230 that has performed admirably, but this is one giant step above that one. The screen is fantastic --- right up there with my Samsung 19" LCD, and actually has more brightness than you'd think possible.

I don't know what else I need short of some saucy thing feeding me grapes while I work my fingers to the bone.

My associate --- he has one of those Alien notebooks --- you know the $5,000 game machines, and now I feel I can keep up with him --- for less than 1/3 the price. Doesn't have that slime green color -- but I'm ok with that.

Hey --- life's a beach!

GREAT L:APTOP with the piece of mind of AAAA Support

(5 out of 5) by J. W. Swisher on May 20, 2007 (Daytona Beach, FLA)
I buy just HP for the past 7 years. I bought this Laptop and after 11 months into the Warrenty, it started acting up... Hp.com support was great and fast getting back to me on the fixes. I was hoping it was easy. For the heck of it, I alerted the store where I bought it and they told me they would return it for refund or exchange ( I do buy signif from Amazon too). But since the tech support was so fast and great I wanted to try the next step. I was told HP would need to get in back for repair. HEy sent me a Fedex box prelabeled and prepaid. I sent it back. In 2 days they got it, and told me they are sending a New HD with Recovery discs. SO easy. I put in the new HD and ran the DVDs and it is fixed. I think, the Office who repaired it added my RAM up to 1 GB for free. I was needing to do that..........woooooooow wow wow.

I never really have the HP PCs go bad but this was no trouble at all. TE CEO and Top Exec will learn of this. WOW Fantastic service and I love the large screen.
