The Cat's Meow ... this is good stuff

(5 out of 5) by F. Martin on Feb 16, 2007
This touchpad actually works with XP! I've had other touchpads that were tempermental, but this one works like a charm. The buttons are programmable and the features are great for internet surfing, document management and general computer management. This is well worth the purchase price and I find it to be a whole lot more user friendly than a mouse! Great product!

Run, Mouse, run!

Having chronic pain from the shoulder to the tips of my fingers from mousing, I have been on the search for a solution. This is it! I even tried the Evoluent sideways mouse - a great idea that did not work for me.

With the Smart Cat, I can even use my left (non-dominant) hand and give the right one a rest while continuing to work.

There was a small learning curve for me with highlighting and drag and drop, but worth the effort. Otherwise, it is easy, intuitive, and needs only the very faintest touch to activate.

I am very pleased with this product and recommend it to anyone trying to find a solution to mousing pain. My only regret is not finding it sooner!

My initial purchase was for my home computer with XP. I am buying another for my computer at work which has Windows 2000.

Worth the money

I tried Addesso's cheaper touch pad and quickly found out that you really get what you pay for with these things. There's a sturdy feel to the pad, but is still fairly light (a feature I need because I have a disability that restricts the amount of motion and weight my hands can handle). Cheaper ones feel like you could snap them in half with a good tap. The software allows you to customize almost everything. The sounds the thing makes make me crazy so I shut them off. I don't have really fine motor skills so I disabled some of the touch pad corner and side features. I love the hotlinks and buttons that can be programmed to do one of their set functions (including things like cut & paste) or open any program you like. They really should describe this as having 3 buttons because the two side ones can only be programmed to do the same function.
Setting up cursor control on a touch pad can be tricky and this one is no different. Play around with the settings until the movement feels natural and the cursor stops where you think it should for that amount of movement. It is very much like setting up a track ball mouse. To be honest, this thing will drive you crazy at first, but the lack of strain on your hands is well worth it.

I love it!

I absolutely love this touch pad! I hated dragging the mouse all over my desk, even with the cordless mouse it was still traveling into my work.

I love the buttons, I've programmed the side buttons. I love the scroll. I love that it stays put. I just love it! Highly Recommended!
