This product completes perfect the chain of sound of my car. I used perfect with a BOSS Bass1200 subwoofer amplifier and other 600 watts amplifier for the doors buffles. You can control perfect the volumes of each amplifier from the equalizer and the filters for each frecuency funtion perfect. It is a little dificult to see and move the frecuencies because you don't have a graphic display or leds but for me it is more important the quality of the sound.
The blue lights are pretty.
I am happy with the sound I get to my car.

the best in sound creation
the clarion eqs746 is one of the best in sound technology it a stable and balance output levels with no distortion and the sub woofer is quiet unique what else can i say if you are lokking for clean clear sound the Clarion EQS 7456 is the way to go.
It works for now, sound is good, knobs only so-so
I had a heck of a time installing this in my toyota pickup, but it's in and it works. Yes, the LED illumination is blue, but I wish it was green to match the rest of my dash lights. it has low current draw, which is good for the battery and charging system--it comes with a 1A fuse and the remote takes very little power, I was able to split the remote output from my stock headunit to switch this on as well as the rear amplifier. I used a Griffin Autopilot to bring sound in from my ipod to the aux input of the EQ, and I had to eliminate a lot of interference when the two were too close together (I used a longer audio patch cable to separate them; they are still right next to each other deep in the dash, just more wire + a RF choke between them).
The manual to the EQ says their volume pot is better than any headunit's, but that is baloney--it doesn't feel very sturdy to the touch and twisting it introduces a moment of static (this might have stopped after the first few turns, I just put it in yesterday). Pushing the AUX input selector button also introduces a loud POP through my speakers, I don't know if that is my installation or the button, but I think it is the button. I turn the volume down before switching inputs. To be fair I hear a similar pop when shutting the entire system down, so it could be that switching inputs creates a split second with zero output (I-0-I, for example). This is probably better than a split second with both inputs overlapping.
Overall sound quality is very good; it is true that I hear zero noise from the EQ itself. There is no max input level so I was able to use speaker level inputs from my headunit without a line-level converter, which I was afraid would introduce too much noise as sound was pushed through the EQ and an old pioneer amp--not so.
The EQ controls work as advertised I guess, I don't know much about sound since it is my first EQ ever. I say it works because it sounds good, and I approve. Being 1/2 DIN EQ I had to find the right way to fill the other 1/2, so I bought a Metra one that seems like the right compliment.
I'm pretty happy with the unit and the finished look, I hope it lasts for years and years.

not for the elite
I bought this product with high hopes, I've been mixing live events for 5 years and I was excited to mix my car stereo. I have a 400 watt Kicker 4 channel powering 4 6.5" Kicker RS Components ($223 a pair) alpine head unit and 1600w in the trunk powering 2 12"s with dynamat xtreme. My stereo sounded nice without the eq and now sounds horrible. The Clarion eq has a nice interface but the functionality is lackluster. First off- when the unit is cold (32-40 degrees F) the center zero notches do not click when on or passing thru the middle. Next they aren't illuminated when its dark, the surround is but not the current setting indicator. This unit only one RCA Input so if your head unit doesn't have a 'main out' you may encounter some problems because all the sound frequency is running thru the one RCA, It could use a LFE or Low end input on the eq. The voltage going to the amps is considerably higher (the only good thing about this product) there is more music coming from my speakers, but only at very low volume. The louder you turn the eq volume the less control you have from taking the bass from the speakers without taking it from the sub. There is considerable noise from the speakers when the volume is at zero. The fader doesn't fade from front to back it seems to fade in and out. The bottom line is, don't buy this product if your car stereo sounds good now, this product wont make it sound any better. Perhaps if you dont have subs, and your speakers can handle a lot of bass and they dont get it from your head unit this product can help you get more from your speakers. I'm going to try and return this and use that money to buy a new dash kit because i had to demolish it it get this to fit below my alpine.
