Good Stuff!
Dock works as advertised. For me it was basically plug and play with my RX V661 reciever.

It doesn't provide any Video Out on iPOD Nano 3G !!!
I bought this dock together with an iPOD Nano. As per on-site descriptions (Apple and Yamaha), both would fully integrate, as the dock is "Made for iPOD" certified logo. However, I realized it doesn't provide VIDEO OUT for the iPOD Nano 3G (Aluminum - lastest version sept 07). Seems to be a change on Video Out interface from Apple - and Yamaha wasn't aware of it in advance. After several messages to Yamaha Customer Support, they included a note on the online product URL.
Remaining funtionalities are ok, I'm able to control remotely (Yamaha RC) most features with an OSD (Monitor Output of Receiver), and music tiles appear also on Receiver display. Product has the Yahama Hardware quality, with strong cables and connectors.

Good, not great
This products works as advertised and I am satisfied overall, but it could be better. My major knock on this product is that the connection is proprietary and will only connect to a Yamaha receiver with the iPod/Bluetooth connection. It would be much better if the audio/video was carried by standard cables and let the control be a separate (proprietary even) cable. Then one could hook it up to a new receiver down the road. Also, this forces you to choose between the iPod and Bluetooth as they use the same port (and there is only one of them.)
The controls work well. But except for pause/prev/next I didn't find much use for them. Think of it, you are across the room, can you really make out the iPod screen well enough to, say, find a new playlist? If Yamaha would scroll the text across the receiver's front panel, then maybe. Otherwise you'll have to walk over to the iPod anyway just to read the screen. I do believe some receivers will project it on a TV screen if you hook to the video out (my setup is for a 2.1 music room so a TV is vorboten in this room.)
So it works well, but it's not a be-all, end-all.

Simple, effective utility for iPod listening
I paired this with a Yamaha AirSurround system (ASIN:B000V7H1HC) , and it worked instantly, without any additional configuration. You plug in the cable to the subwoofer system, the other to the dock, and use the appropriate plastic cover for the dock. The iPod goes in, and you press "dock" on the remote. Done. You navigate the iPod menu using the remote or, if you want, the iPod itself.
The sound is extremely good due to the native connection to the iPod. You might need to adjust sound levels if you have uneven recording levels, but the remote does a very good job of leveling sound when needed. The subwoofer portion does a reasonable job of trying to produce some of the low tones, but I suggest you experiment with the Dolby sound processing to find the best reproduction for your room. On the whole, you get a fair value and a very easy-to-use solution.

Very nice
I bought a new Yamaha receiver and got this from here. Very happy with it. The receiver recognized that it was hooked up, I plugged in my iPod and voila - it works. It has a rather long cable which is nice. I keep it "hidden" at the back of the receiver and then pull it out when I want to listen to the iPod.
