A Truly Extraordinary Subwoofer
I've had a powered subwoofer as part of both my stereo music system and my home theater setup for over ten years, and, before the the Carver I owned and enjoyed three. None have equalled wither the quality or quantity of the Carver's bass output.
My home theater is calibrated to the motion picture theater standard of 85db per channel. This is LOUD. Indeed, much louder than most home theater owners could use and outside of the capabilities of most subs designed for home use. The Carver (Well actualy, in my set up, two Carvers) handle it easily. And they stay tight and clear even when driven that hard.
Among the advantages of the Carver's design is full 180 degree incremental adjustment for phase. (Most have simply a switch for 0 or 180) This makes it easier to match the speakers to the main system, avoiding crossover frequency cancelation effects.
The non-boomy sound of a properly adjusted and placed Carver also makes it a great choice for serious classical music listening - something much more difficult than just adding low end puch to already heavily processed music or a film soundtrack.
The fact the the "Woofer by Bob" D10 (Its present name now that Carver has parted ways with Sunfire) can be purchased at a fraction of its initial price makes it a double winner. I.e, Buy two!

An excellent sounding subwoofer with very tight room rattlling bass.
An excellent sounding subwoofer with real jaw dropping bass. This unit is manufactured in china and is based on the sunfire subwoofer, but mass produced to offer a similar sound, but scaled down with less power and a single 10 inch speaker. The unit is excellent, but i would recommend using a seperate power strip to turn the sub on last, when powering on your stereo system. When you are shutting off your stereo, turn the subwoofer off first, through a recommended power strip.Carver and sunfire subwoofers are very sensitive and could fail from turn on,turn off power surges.Again highly recommended.I own this sub.Thank you from Stewart.L
