Good item for a long trip...but...

(4 out of 5) by Bob Loblaw on Aug 24, 2007 (Oklahoma City, OK United States)
It says 400 Watt Inverter but that's only if hooked directly to battery. I assumed this was true when I placed the order, but would have liked more detail in Amazon.

The item is nice and compact with 2 electrical receptacles, an on/off switch and two sets of cables to attach to the posts, one for the batter (with clamps like a jumper cable) and one for the cigarette lighter. It's a good size and does exactly what you want, as long as you don't want more than something like 90 watts from the cigarette lighter.

Just what I wanted

(5 out of 5) by K. A. Sasaki on Aug 23, 2007 (LA, USA)
This inverter works great so far. I haven't used it in long-term applications, but thus far it does everything that it says it does. GFI, automatic temp control, decently high efficiency, etc.
So great product, good price, I'm happy with it.

oh and I'm sure most of you know, but you can't use it with induction-based appliances (e.g. refrigerators), since it's a modified sine-wave. But I use it for lights and powering my laptop and have had no problems so far.

great item

(5 out of 5) by Salehin M. Ghani on Jun 15, 2007 (Pittsburgh, PA, USA)
I've owned this device for over 2 years. I primarily use it to power laptops when using laptop-based GPS, and to recharge digicam batteries in a pinch. I've only had it blow a fuse one time. I've taken it on vacation and it has run my Inspiron 9300 laptop for up to 10 hours straight without overheating. This has also successfully powered my friend's 130W-drawing laptop for a few hours. Highly recommended item.

Great Product

(5 out of 5) by Patilo on Jun 5, 2007 (Illinois)
This unit met the specs needed for my CPAP. Ran all night for a week, with no drain. I am impressed with the quality and the size. Check your CPAP specs. Using a unit that doesn't meet specs can void your warranty. Unfortunately, I had to purchase at a "discount" center for $49.00, since I figured out what I needed the day I was leaving for a trip. Great price on Amazon.
