Versatile carry-all case

(5 out of 5) by M.J.G on Jan 9, 2007 (Toronto, Canada)
Case Logic has done an excellent engineering job on this 13" case. Abundant pockets / pouches, quality stitching & zippers, a handy fast clip quick access key ring strap, very comfortable heavily padded handle, attractive & durable black exterior and two oval feet on the bottom for standing the case upright. I'm amazed on what I've been able to fit into this case at one time i.e. laptop / power supply & usb mouse, external hard drive enclosure/power supply & usb cable, numerous CD's, my cell phone, and even a Canon LiDE flatbed scanner !!
It's been a long time since I've been as pleased with a product and it's price, as i have with the Case Logic.

Awesome bag!!!

(5 out of 5) by Fernando Nones on Jul 18, 2007 (Maracaibo, Venezuela)
I've had several laptop bags in the past and this one has got to be one of the best. My macbook fits snuggly inside, the laptop compartment has a strap from two sides that you can adjust to change how tight you want your laptop to be. Inside the same zipper area I can fit one inch worth of piano sheets, plus some thin notebooks, the power adapter, and extension cable with room for more stuff!!

The front of the bag has another compartment in which you can fit pretty much any electronics device you own. It has a slot for an ipod, palm or pda, camera, glasses, ID, cd's, passport, cellphone, boarding pass tickets, you name it. There are also a bunch of small compartments around the side which I sometimes use to put in some loose change or some money.

I've only dropped this bag once, on concrete. I'm 6'5" so it probably dropped a bit more than 3ft, when I arrived to one of my classes I turned the laptop on no problem. I feel like I could drop this thing from a two-storie apartment and nothing would happen to the macbook! (Though I highly recommend you don't try that!! hahah)

Anyway I highly recommend this bag for anyone looking for something to fit everything they need and be on the move. And for only 30 bucks, there's nowhere else to look.

Look no further

(5 out of 5) by Dr. Gershom Martin on Nov 3, 2008 (Rechovot Israel)
I got a Samsonite L35 Notebook Case for my Macbook Pro. It did the job and piggybacked nicely onto my American Tourister Tribute III Expandable 21" Carry-On Upright Suiter for air travel, but after a few months of hand-carrying to work (shoulder straps aren't really my thing) the rubberized handle straps started falling apart. (The material is nice to the touch but not durable. A real pity since the case itself is almost bullet-proof and it's a shame to throw it out.)

The present one is apparently what I should have bought instead. The handle is attached solidly to the case (no flapping hinges here), well-padded but covered in durable nylon fabric. There is a luggage trolley strap on the bag (not mentioned in the product description) --- on days of uncertain weather I can actually stick my windbreaker through it. On the back are two zippered pockets for things like passports and airline tickets --- the top one also has a keychain attachment strap.

Two little zippered corner pockets in front are big enough to slip away things like an iPod with earbuds, a Blackberry, a small camera,... These are particularly nice to collect these items ahead of TSA inspection (together with wallets, etc.) so one does not need to dump 10 small items on a tray and then hope one can collect them after inspection before somebody laid their hands on them :-)

The laptop compartment's size is adjustable: my Macbook fits quite comfortably, and despite the advertised "13 inch" size (actual dimensions are more like 15) I think there's actually room for a bigger model. In the same compartment are two webbed sleeves: For a recent transatlantic trip, I had a bunch of papers stuck in the bottom sleeve and a BatteryGeek universal external laptop battery in the top sleeve.

The front compartment has all sorts of nifty pockets for gadgets. What I carry in it is really quite modest --- AC adapter, Kensington 33374 Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer, video adapter cables (for both DVI and VGA), and a retractable Ethernet cable. I could stuff in quite a bit more and still keep it organized.

There is also a front outer sleeve that I haven't quite figured out what to do with yet. Hold a water bottle? Hold a newspaper (for those who still read dead-tree newspapers)? Always good to know you have a spare compartment in case (ahem) you need it though.

Finally, while sturdy and apparently durable, the case is small, compact, and supple enough that having it under my airline seat during a transatlantic flight was not a great hardship. (I'm just under 6' so every inch of legroom counts in economy class ;-))

(5 out of 5) by E. Ferrer Marcano on Jan 21, 2008 (Maracaibo, ZU VE)

I have an 12'' HP tx1320us tablet pc....this case is perfect for it! My mouse fits perfectly in one of it's compartments, cables for the AC adapter fit in the right compartment, my Ipod in another......it has space for all the gadgets you buy and it's really been designed for a person who travels a lot....it's weight is perfect..

Recommended 100%

returning the case

(4 out of 5) by L. Huang on Oct 30, 2007 (Oakland, CA)
Seems like a fairly well put together case, but I'm returning it for two reasons. First, I don't like the large velcro straps in the main compartment for aesthetic reasons -- they make a ton of noise securing and unsecuring. If this doesn't bother you, great.

More seriously, I don't like the access to the main compartment. The case is neither truly top-loading nor truly a clamshell (the zippers don't open up far enough) so getting at the main compartment is a little awkward. Also (I guess this is reason #3), I don't like the utilization of space inside the main compartment. The "harness" for the laptop is centered inside the compartment and there are slivers of open space equally distributed around it -- but this open space isn't organized or partitioned, so it seems like if you stuffed a power adapter or other accessories in there they might flop around unless you found some other way to secure them.

I agree with the other reviews, however, that the case seems quite sturdy.
