GREAT UNIT

(5 out of 5) by World Traveler on Oct 17, 2007 (Fairfax, VA, USA)
I own this unit for about 8 months, it great. With a high def TV great combo to see the Blu-ray movies especially 300, Blackhawk Down and Kindom of Heaven. Sony has updated the firmware twice already so it has kept up with the technology. Updating isbrezze.

Awesome picture as viewed on a KDL-40XBR2 BRAVIA XBR LCD Flat Panel HDTV in Best Buy. If you don't have a 1080P monitor, get one of each with your hard earned dollars if you want the best DVD has to offer to date.

A fine player......

(5 out of 5) by Vase on Feb 26, 2007 (Seattle, WA United States)
I purchased this player about two weeks ago. It delivers an incredible picture. I watched the Last Samurai on blu ray and wow!!! If you can afford this player get it.

I also own the samsung blu ray player 1000. The real difference between the two is load time. The samsung loads a little bit quicker. Otherwise, the PQ is about the same. Toss a coin!

I think in short order everyone will come to discover that blu ray will win the HD wars.

Not ready for prime time

(2 out of 5) by everyday man on Dec 8, 2008
Player has too many problems even after loading in the update discs. Things like: very slow startup, scan speed 1 usually works but forget 2 and 3, will just go into pause mode for no reason and you can't get it out without rebooting, etc. Very irritating machine, especially since it is relatively expensive.

Everything you could hope for

(5 out of 5) by A. Egigian on May 2, 2007 (Redondo Beach, CA USA)
Easy set-up, brilliant high-definition picture with deep rich color and clarity, uncompressed audio, DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD options, makes for a great deck providing a richly satisfying experience.
