Great little gadget

(5 out of 5) by Roger Williams on Mar 11, 2007 (Trinidad)
I had used Skype before, using my computers speakers and my webcam's microphone, but this wasn't very convenient. So I got the Call Centre, based on other reviews out there about this product. It is extremely easy to install and setup was a snap. I can now use my regular phone for dialling my Skype contacts, even if I'm not home. I can also have my Skype calls come to me on my mobile.

The only issue I have found is that if you are on a Skype call and someone calls you on your phone, then the Skype call is immediately dropped for the regular call. A little annoying, but I don't normally get much calls anyway.

Best of all was the price from J&R Electronics, with fast shipping (got it in about 3 days instead of 10).

With this little gadget I have replaced my VOIP service I used to have. I only pay for calls made, and the rates are as good as my previous VOIP or better (and these rates were already some of the lowest around). No monthly/annual fees to worry about. My calling use is all International and I use my current cell phone service for making US national calls. All told, I am saving at least US$200 per year with Skype and VoSKY.

diappointed

I read some great reviews on this product, but it failed to live up to them.
When I use my regular line with it my downloads are stopped on the ADSL.

I have to disconnect the call center when I'm not making internet calls.

Their customer service has not responded to any help requests.

An overpriced disappointment.

It works

It does the job after you update the driver. Good price, very happy!

This little box does an amazing job. Being able to become untethered to my PC is just what I wanted. I use the VoSKY Call Center with a cordless phone. The cordless phone lets me use the handset, speakerphone, or headset to talk. It took all of 15 minutes to set up (bearing in mind I worked for years as a network/computer tech).

It works flawlessly with the latest Skype software. I spent an hour on a long-distance call to check it out. Audio was clear on both ends with cell phone quality and no echo. Being able to make a local call from work, connect to VoSKY, and then dial a SkypeOut call for long distance is worth the $47 I paid for the Call Center.

The next thing I did was change the weird answering machine greeting. A quick session with Windows Sound Recorder and mixing the end of the message with a simple "beep" wave file did the trick. The answering machine greeting is located at: C:\Program Files\Vosky Call Center\VoicePrompt\English\vp15.wav Make sure that you're using the same settings as the original (i.e. PCM, 16bit samples, mono, 8KHz sample rate).

I gave it a 4 because the software should let you change the greeting without doing so much work. Also, you can only check voicemails at the host computer and not remotely from an outside phone.

Good job VoSKY!

Vista compatible, the best box in the market!!!

(5 out of 5) by H. Martins on Aug 23, 2007 (Caracas, VE)
I have this box and it works like a charm, it's Vista compatible and it autoupdates its software! Besides that, it's cheap.

I have other boxes and they do not support Vista, they do not update its software and the worst, you can't use newer Skype versions with it, so this one rocks and it's the best option to buy.
