Great basic reciever

(5 out of 5) by RockClimber on Oct 28, 2009
This is the second RX-937 I've purchased. Great sound quality, simple feature set. No problems. Its just a traditional stereo receiver, which is all I wanted.

Couldn't be happier

(5 out of 5) by Corey Hightower on Jun 13, 2009 (San Diego, Ca)
This reciever is BY FAR the best sterio reciever on the market (within the price range). I studied for a while on what to by. Im a huge audiophile so it was important to have good sound even though I wasn't looking to spend a lot. I know this is about a 100 bucks more than a sony reciever that lots of people have bought but I rolled the dice. After having this reciever for a few days, i've noticed that even in lower end models, yamaha still keeps their great sound and quality. I love the output terminals for the speakers. They are screw in terminals rather than "pinch" terminals which means they can support a bigger gauge wire and that it will hold the connection better. All around, the radio gets great reception. The most important thing is how user friendly the reciever is. This is one of the easier recievers I've ever dealt with (as is yamaha in general) as far as dialing in the perfect amount of treble and bass. I couldn't be happier. Spend the extra money and get a quality reciever.

Great lil' amp

(5 out of 5) by Harry G. Chambers on Dec 28, 2008 (Ocala, FL)
My previous amp died and I use this new unit along with my Yamaha Tyros II keyboard when entertaining groups of 300 or less. The Yamaha RX-397 does a great job powering the old Cerwin-Vega speakers I use. End result is half the cost and better sound than from typical keyboard amps/speakers. And thank you Amazon... for saving me $100.00 vs. a local store.

Better Specs Than An Integrated Amplifier

(5 out of 5) by Dmitri on Nov 16, 2008 (The desert of the arts Florida)
I wanted an amplifier that would get the best sound out of my CD player. This relatively low power receiver has better specs and sound than some integrated amplifiers for hundreds of dollars more. Granted it doesn't have the bells and whistles of many other receivers, but if you want a stereo receiver with solid fundamentals then this is your ticket.

Nice for the money

(5 out of 5) by Roger on Nov 13, 2008 (Illinois)
It's not great looking, but it is everything I needed. It has replaced my 20+yo Technics receiver quite well. It has plenty of power for my speakers plus I was able to connect my CD player, cassette player AND my direct drive turntable to it. I didn't think I would use it but I love the remote. I recommend this to anyone, this is a nice receiver for the money.
