Excellent optics for the price

(5 out of 5) by Steve Siringer on Mar 17, 2007
This scope is worth every penny, I was very concerned buying a "cheaper" spotting scope but after my first range session my nerves are at rest. It's very easy to see the .30 cal holes at 200 yards and light transmission and clarity are very adequate. This scope also comes with 2 carrying cases, a nice added bonus. When comparing this scope to my friends bushnell of the same power this one wins hands down, a definate purchase for someone on a budget and looking to get good quality for limited funds.

good spotting scope for the price

(4 out of 5) by ewias on Feb 24, 2007 (Denver, CO)
For the price, this scope does the job and easily in the top tier within its class/costs. It is easy to handle and really light which makes it easy to hike with. To be honest, this scope is more capable than any scope we used in the USMC scout/sniper platoon I served in back in the early 90s. The cases are excellent. I would recommend a heavier tripod for added stability.

Barska Blackhawk 20-60 x 60 Spotting Scope

(4 out of 5) by Luis M. Estopinan on May 3, 2007
I am new to the sport of hunting/rifle shooting and recently purchased the Barska Blackhawk for the purpose of sighting/practicing with my rifles at the range. I have used the scope at a distance that exceeded 100 yards and the view was clear. In my opinion (though not an expert in this field) this product was worth every dollar. In addition, the scope comes in a very nice case.

Great scope, great package at a great price

(5 out of 5) by Kalokahi on Mar 11, 2009
I bought this scope to zero in my AR-15 at about 100-yards. It worked well, and I can see my bullet holes up to about 150-yards. Beyond that, I can focus on my target, but struggled to count the number of bullet holes. This scope is great for the $109 price, especially with the extras you don't get with the more expensive brands. And it held up well against my friend's expensive $450 Leupold (that he got without a tripod or hard case). Unfortunately I needed something strong (good up to 300-yards), and returned this scope for the Barska Benchmark 25-125X88 for $15 more.
My advice, pick the magnification power that fits your needs and expectations. Then compare prices before comparing brands.

Over rated reviews

This scope is an adequate scope for wild life or scenery, but for hunting and/or target shooting it is not up to standard. The scope feels light, the tripod is difficult to adjust precisely, and at the highest magnification the view is blurry/fuzzy. The light is adequate, but the blurry image is a big minus. Even for the price I would expect something a little better. Returned it for refund.
