Good for the price, reception leaves a bit to be desired

(4 out of 5) by Arnaud P. Romary on Jan 6, 2009 (Paris, France)
Overall great item. It is loud for a little box, the extension cord is long enough, and the accuracy of the dials are great.

However, I would like to point out that the antenna needs to be raised from the back for reception to be good around where I live, and this kills a little bit of the look of the item.
Also, no sound adjustments possible, the bass is a little too high for my taste.

Great work radio!

I ordered this for work where the radio I had gave me static so much of the time. This radio gets great reception and has great tones. I love it.

This is a great little radio with a wonderful amazing sound. I love that it looks good too. I also use it with my I-Pod. Great price on Amazon too!

very nice if not defective

I ordered three of these from another source. All appeared to be new stock. Beautiful construction, good looks, nice ergonomics. Great FM reception; the adjustable whip antenna is a plus. AM reception seems OK too but perhaps not as good as the FM tuner. The bass is a bit stronger and treble a bit weaker than I prefer, but it's a nice clean clear sound, even as you increase volume. I'm experimenting with a foam plug in the bass port which may help tailor the frequency response to my taste. The tuner feels and works almost identically to that of my Tivoli Model Two. The Model Two sounds more musical with better frequency balance and extended high end, though the Comet is cleaner on weak signals as you can't switch the Model Two to monaural to reduce hiss. I'm not too familiar with the Tivoli Model One, so I can't do that comparison. The Comet is a great value for $60, if you get a good one. I ordered one for me and two as gifts. All three are beautifully constructed, but one's tuner turns but doesn't tune and one has a noisy tuner. Given the one in three odds, I've decided to keep the good one and just return the others. I'll enjoy using it several hours a day.

Amazing radio!

I will keep this short and sweet. I own a Tivoli Model 1 and I recently purchased the Crosley Comet. I like the design and look of the Tivoli better but I actually prefer the sound of the Comet! Yes, I think the Comet sounds better for almost half of the cost of a Tivoli.
