State of the art phone - reliable, quality and with a lot of perks!

(5 out of 5) by Julie Kingston on Apr 3, 2006 (Rocklin, CA USA)
As my title suggests, I think this phone system really is fantastic. There are many perks to having this system, namely the fact that one can be on more than one phone at the same time (many phone "systems" can't), the LCD screen is in color and is of good quality. I don't personally use the answering machine included in the phone, but when I accidentally turned it on, the sound from the messages I received were significantly better than expected.

All in all, this phone is a quality purchase with many perks. I particularly enjoy the "speakerphone" option on EACH handset. IT is a good looking phone, too, which isn't a deal maker or breaker for me, but it's a nice feature!

I would highly recommend this phone! I had free shipping from Amazon, and still received it sooner than expected... that makes for one happy consumer in me!!

Flawless performance - great value

I've become a true believer in this line of Panasonic phones. The base unit (digital answering machine, desktop speaker phone and cradle/charger for one remote) and the four remotes (all cordless speakerphones) that I use with the base unit are phenomenal. Battery life, sound clarity, and microphone sensitivity are all superb, and I simply cannot say enough good things about the utility of having a high-quality speakerphone built into the remote. Registering the remotes to the base unit is a snap - I'm sure just about anyone can set it up in minutes. Another couple of really cool features: a) you can build or make changes to your stored phone directory in one remote unit, then broadcast it to the other remotes, and b) when a caller has left you a message on the answering machine you get a message waiting indicator on every remote and can then operate the answering machine/retrieve your messages from any remote in the house (without having to touch the base unit). In all practicality this makes placement of the answering machine/base unit irrelevant. Very nice. Mine happens to be a "remanufactured by Panasonic" unit (base and one remote) which came with complete documentation/owner registration materials, great packaging and flawless performance right out of the box. It also appeared to be new. The only ways I could tell it wasn't new - the batteries were nearly fully charged, the user manual appeared to be a photocopy rather than an original, and there were stickers on the phones indicating they'd been remanufactured. One minor design change I'd like to see - the number-of-messages-received LCD display on the answering machine is small and has no backlight. I think it would be a bit more usable with a backlight and/or a larger size, but given that you don't actually have to use the base unit to get messages, it's sort of a "So what?" flaw. Other compatible remote models (which I don't own) have a USB port and software that allow you to add different "wallpaper" images and ring tones via an interface to a PC. I would buy this set again in a heartbeat, but I might opt for the more advanced remore units with the USB interface.
