worked great for about a month

these antennas are pieces of junk. The cable is extremely fragile with no structural reinforcement at all. this antenna will break if you move it from location to location. best thing to do is get one for home and each vehicle because any handling of the cable will cause breakage over time. for thirty dollars you are already half way to a new receiver, makes no sense.

Seems OK to me

I've had one of these for 2 years, and have moved it into 3 or 4 cars. So far, I haven't had any problems with it or the cable. I'll admit that I am pretty careful with the cable. But, I have bent the cable around the metal car frame (on the hatchback of our Prius) and then crammed the rubber molding back over it - it survived that just fine.

However, I do think the other reviewer is right, it's probably best to buy one of these for each car, so you don't have to move it.
