Best Network Card for 64-bit Vista

(5 out of 5) by J. Coltharp on Nov 13, 2007
Its difficult to find a good Network Card that works on Vista 64-bit.

I used to have a Marvell Yukon onboard, but it crashes if you have more than 2 gb of Ram.

This card works perfect, and its PCI Express! Its a rare perfect card.

I have Vista Ultimate, 64-bit, with 4GB ram, and it works PERFECT! I don't know of any other cards that can boast of the same thing.

Buy with confidence

Ok, so it costs a couple bucks more. But I've found these adapters to be absolutely bulletproof. I have half a dozen of these installed now and every one has installed completely effortlessly, performed great, and never made so much as a peep afterward.

In my opinion, half of the value proposition is the great drivers they have and the broad compatibility. I run Linux as well as Windows, and being able to have default support for the card built into the operating system is a great convenience when I'm reconfiguring or repurposing a box. I wouldn't consider any other brand.

Works Perfect at Gigabit Speeds

(5 out of 5) by Shawn Walters on Jul 8, 2009 (Chicago)
My Realtek gigabit card that came with the computer would only connect at 100Mbps in Vista 64, even when I forced full duplex. As soon as I installed this I was at 1Gbps. Installation took about 2 minutes! This card works perfectly in Vista 64.

Best desktop NIC

(5 out of 5) by Chan Wing Kin on Apr 20, 2009 (Macau)
I bought this product because the onboard network adapter does no longer meet my requirement - faster, stable and with Jumbo Frame supported. I had very good experience in using Intel NIC products in my corporate, and it worth the higher cost with full premium features. When running the throughput benchmarking, the difference is significant when comparing those onboard NIC. It is nice to see Intel still doesn't forget the desktop NIC market. This adapter is the King of desktop based Gigabit NIC.

Rock solid on linux

I replaced my cheapie gigabit nics (Realtek chipset) with the Intel nics and the difference is like night and day under Linux. 50MB/s file transfers are now the norm. You can go cheapie on most other computer parts but don't do it with nics under Linux.
