Excellent

(5 out of 5) by Nicholas Saretzky on Sep 24, 2009
I always wanted floor standing speakers, to me they simply placement and say to guests that you're a bit serious about home theater. I was replacing the *very* well regarded, and now unavailable, K05B50 kit speakers. I honestly didn't expect the Polks to beat them out in sound quality, but I was mistaken. The RM8000Ts have a beautiful sound which is quite loud but exceptionally clear. I suppose that the redundant drivers are to thank for this sound. Both music and movies come across lively and great. Compared to my old speakers there was a subtle increase in realism, which I don't believe to be simply from loudness. I connected both speaker sets to my receiver and did a comparison, and although difficult due to different sensitivities, I believe the Polks are truly producing better, tighter sound. I was so pleased I went out that same week and replaced my center channel with the matching unit from Polk. It too is excellent!

Best speakers I ever owned!!!!

I love these speakers...worth every penny...here are the pros and cons:

PROS-

*Curved design makes for even sound
*Magnetic shields mean you can place them next to your tv without problem
*Dual binding posts for bi-amplification or bi-wiring
*Sleek metallic finish with interesting curved design
*Better bass response than the RM7400T/RM40T
*Floor standing for convenient portability

CONS-

*Needs more equipment to get a "complete" home theater

Polk Audio RM8000T

I have a Sony KDS-R60XBR1 rear projection TV and the two Polk Audio RM8000T speakers complement it esthetically. I enjoy the sound, but I am by no means an audiophile. The sound is better than the previous Radio Shack speakers I had used.
