I can honestly say that this is the greatest laptop I've ever owned. It's fast, simple, reliable, and very powerful. I'm a college kid and went out on a limb by purchasing an IBM (unlike everybody else who bought a Dell).
So far (1 semester now) this thing has been absolutely brilliant. While my friends with Dells are complaining about no receptions, short battery life, and other random problems with their Dells this thing just keeps on going. I haven't had one problem yet, and that's with serious use and serious travel. This laptop has never stayed in one place for more than 10 hours. It is extremely light, put together very well, and lasts a very very long time on one stock battery (4.5 hours is the longest I've had it run).
Overall I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone, not just Business majors. It is a corporate workhorse in the truest form. A+ for IBM.
Awesome! Best of Breed!!
The T43 is everything promised and more! The screen is bright and clear, connectivity is easy fast and secure and the magnesium case is light and durable.
The IBM T43 represents the cusp of the transitioning of brand to Levono
My T43 has been rock solid - crisp displays on my beautiful 15" screen mean I very rarely resort to my desktop any more. However, what's been truly outstanding - and worthy of note on these pages - is the integrated proprietary software bundled in by IBM and now supported by Lenovo (known collectively as "ThinkVantage"). Of particular note, the ThinkVantage "Software Installer" program is a thing of beauty. You run it occasionally to keep your various drivers up to date with bug fixes and new feature releases. I've loaded down dozens of iterations with nary a blip. It's elegant yet simple engineering that has performed well for me every time.
The IBM T43 represents the cusp of the transitioning of the ThinkPad brand to Levono and all indications are they're be more that just caretakers and stewards. They'll look to push the brand forward and gain market share while protecting the premium image that IBM so carefully cultivated and nutured.
