Plantronics M214C Headset

Sep 17, 2006 - By Mike in Ohio (Bellbrook, OH United States)

I bought this locally from an office supply. I paid considerably more for mine, because I needed it in a hurry. It comes with a one year manufacturer's warranty. It has two sliding switches and a wheel type volume control on the cord. One switch is a two position sensitivity/volume control for the microphone (high and low), and the other is a sliding microphone mute switch. The microphone is fairly long and wraps around just to the corner of your mouth.

I sent myself a voice mail using the headset to check for voice and sound quality. The microphone records well and is fairly directional, so normal side room noises are not picked up. The sound quality is satisfactory, but certainly not high fidelity. The headband would become annoying if it was worn for long periods. For a very inexpensive headset used occasionally, this one works reasonably well. If you spend long hours on the phone, invest the money to buy professional quality office headset.

Best headset value, after a few tries, it's the keeper.

Jan 3, 2007 - By J. White

I bought a new set of 5.8GHZ phones recently and my old cheapo over the ear headset was causing a crackling noise (non gold plug) every time the plug which fits into the cordless phone jack was bumped or turned in the slightest manner. I bought and returned 2 headsets (both more expensive than this one) which I tested out before deciding to keep this one. One a Plantronics over the ear style, (my volume level was too low even with phones own volume setting turned all the way up and it pinched my ear) and the other a Radioshack headband style like this one. (worked fine but this one was cheaper and the solid boom mike looks, feels, and works better by design) I'm happy with this headset and this is important because all of my calls must use a headset due to an injury.

Mediocre Headset

Mar 22, 2007 - By Nom de Guerre (Castro Valley, CA USA)

I've been using this headset with a Uniden cordless (5.8 GHz) and an AT&T corded phone. In both cases, people complain that they can't hear me very well. Using the so-called microphone volume switch doesn't seem to make much difference.

It's also not particularly comfortable. I can hear other people fine, but of course that's only half of the challenge with voice communications.

Look no more - this is a great headset for cordless phone

Dec 11, 2007 - By Y. Ho (Budd Lake, NJ United States)

After I did the research and studied many review, I decided to purchase this headset from Amazon. The sound quality is excellent in comparison to several other brand/model that I own. Seriously, this product has exceeded my expactation for a $18 piece. You can control the volume and the mute right from the headset wire. I also like the microphone stick which is not the flexible type that is easily out of shape. The weight of the headset is pretty light and it fits quite well. I used it to talk on the phone and walked around, then I totally forgot that I was wearing a headset. The headset also works on my Motorola cell phone. The padding on the ear feels very confortable. I am happy with the product.

Great headset!

The best headset we've had yet. Works perfectly with 2 different phones, one old and one newer. Very comfortable, and has a quality feel to it. The inline volume & mute are very handy. Ordered a couple more because it's hard to find a good headset at such a low price.
