Does not work - don't buy

(1 out of 5) by Kalyan on Sep 19, 2008 (NJ, USA)
Sabrent SBT-VT6306 3 + 1 Ports Firewire IEEE1394 PCI Controller Card

I bought this card and returned it. I have tried installing this on windows xp professional PC. PC was brand new from Dell.Card was not detected and does not show up on the hardware device manager. No drivers for windows xp provided along with this. Sabrent company claims that no drivers are needed for windows xp, which may not be true when it comes to this card. Drivers are not available even on the sabrent website.

My 2 cents, do not buy this card.

NOT BAD FOR TEN BUCKS !!!

(5 out of 5) by Lawrence Kuszmaul on Jun 3, 2008 (Seaside, OR United States)
I have an eMachines c6535 with USB 2.0. I wanted to have other I/O options so I got this card. It plugged right into my PCI slot and upon restart it was instantly recognized by Windows as a ' SERIOUS ERROR" and kicked me into blue sceen. After restarting twice it finally recognized the device and has been working very well since.
One thing. The metal plate with the firewire plugs does not line up well with the rear pass through. Close enough though. It instantly recognizes my external hard drive and seems to work well

Flawless Compatibility with Vista & Free Fireiwre Cable!

(5 out of 5) by Tim A. Payne on Feb 2, 2009 (Washington DC, USA)
This worked flawlessly. It came with a driver CD, but I didn't need to use it in Windows Vista which recongized it natively. I was copying my MiniDV material in like 1 minute under Vista.

THIS ALSO COMES WITH A FREE CABLE -- which is another $10 via Amazon.

This is the best deal around. You will pay $15 for a card anywhere else.

Does not work

(1 out of 5) by D. Horn on Oct 7, 2009
I installed this item in a Vista Home Premium x64. It went in fine, when I booted up it went through installing the new hardware fine. No problems in device manager either. But then when I tried plugging in a video camera it did not work. Nothing came up. I am returning it and buying a different one. It might work on your computer, but not on mine.

excellent quality, great price

The product does exactly what it advertises. It installed easily and works 100% of the time. Best of all, it is very inexpensive, and as far as I can tell, all items I have purchased from Sabrent are inexpensive and high quality for the price.
