Dual XPA6100 is an Outstanding Value

(5 out of 5) by RWB on Sep 11, 2007 (Atlanta, GA USA)
At ~$65, shipped the Dual XPA6100 mono subwoofer amplifier is a fantastic value. When I first recieved the amp, I dragged my boat's marine battery inside and connected the amp to my 10" Velodyne home theatre sub. Wow! The sound was excellent. From low to high levels, the Dual XPA6100 was as loud, clean and controlling as the Velodyne's internal amp. Not as many whistles and bells, but for the money...

The Dual XPA6100 adjustment settings are simple and after finding the perfect values, I have not touched them since. Power line filters were not needed. It's a quiet amp: no hum, hiss or whine.

My disappointment comes not from the amp, but my 12" Infinity Reference (4-ohm) subwoofer. At lower, admittedly normal volumes, the sound is fantastic. But when I want moderately high levels, the amp quickly over powers the sub causing it to bottom out. What a great excuse for a new sub.

You cannot go wrong with the Dual XPA6100.

Good $ value

This amp is a good buy for money & for the power. You can trust the power rating. I have used it to drive a Lanzar Max12D (12" dual 4 ohm voice coil), subwoofer. And also installed another to drive 2 10" Dayton Quatro (single 4 ohm voice coil) subwoofers from Parts Express (Amazon Seller of whom I am a wholesale buyer) and it drove both configurations just fine with no over over heating problems.
