I have a T23 Thinkpad. It works great! The only problem was that it got warm after an hour's use. I thought I would try this fan to see if it would work. Because of the low price I thought there was a catch. Because it plugs into a usb port I didn't expect it to be very efficient. I also thought it would be loud. I was wrong. This keeps my thinkpad from getting warm and it is surprisingly quiet. The only drawback is that it is curved and opened on the bottom so it does not sit on your lap comfortably. But if you get a little lapdesk there is no problem.
Lightweight
This is made from lightweight plastic. There is a little lip in the front, so if your laptop has controls on the front, this cooler will interfere with them. Also, if your laptop only has USB slots in the front, the cooler's short USB cable may not reach them. Widescreen laptops will hang over the sides and make the unit a little unstable. The fans are quiet though.
This is the real #1 cooling fan
I purchased this item and the "#1 rated cooling fan" according to amazon's compilation of reviews.....the DataStor UNBCPX 3-Fan Notebook Cooling Pad.
This one literally blows it away. I have temperature sensors inside my laptop and a program to read them.
My hard drive runs at about 100 degrees F, 38 degrees C. I also own the Belkin 1 fan model.
The Kinmax is a PUSH fan as to cool the CPU with cooler room temperature air as is the Belkin. They both cool my HD down 10 degrees to 90 in about 10 minutes.
The DataStor UNBCPX 3-Fan Notebook Cooling Pad, which is a pull fan as to suck the hot air away from the bottom of the computer, and that I ran for an hour and my cpu HD acuually gained a degree.
The Kinmax and Belkin both come with with a back lift apparatus that makes it more ergonomically comfortable, the DataStor UNBCPX 3-Fan Notebook Cooling Pad does not and the laptop lays flat.
The Kinmax is by far the best in acheiving lower tempatures while holding your laptop in a good position whether it be on a desk or lap. The hollow underneath is its ownly drawback as the fans are exposed.
The Belkin is even more ergonomically pleasant and it has a storage bin for the wire, it looks nicer and sturdier, but only has one fan directly in the middle, so hence one third the power.
The DataStor UNBCPX 3-Fan Notebook Cooling Pad is flat, does not hold your laptop very well and doesnt not effectively funnell enough heat away from your computer to be worth running it.
I have two HOT SPOTS. One is the top left where the power supply is, and the other is in the bottom left/middle, so the three fan configuration was a must.
It may not look the prettiest but the KINMAX is by far the champ.
You need this product
i bought this product because my laptops fan constantly kept coming on while i worked on long projects. i know that every time your laptop fan comes on the cpu is losing life because its starting to overheat. well i decided to pick up a fan. this one works great. i never hear my laptop fan come on. it makes the same amount of noise as the laptop fan does but i can feel the cold air coming from underneath it. it stands your laptop up as well and now my wrist are feeling much better. by standing up it allows the fan to pull in air around the laptop which is need instead of just spinning air in place from the small fans. this is a great product and was worth every dollar.
Poorly made, exposed wiring in the underbelly quickly kills unit
I bought this less than 3 weeks ago and it has stopped working properly. The wires under the bottom of the unit are exposed and do not take a lot of wear and tear. Now I have to move around the wires constantly just to get the fans working. It's not very suitable for laps either.
