I got what I wanted

Sep 26, 2007 - By Nitin A. Kamble (santa clara, ca USA)

I was a bit skepticle about buying this one, becuase not enough details were provided online.
But when I received it, I was happy about my purchase decision.

Pros:
1. Fit in the carbus slot without extending out. That way handling of my laptop with this or w/o this stays same. And I can leave this card in the slot for ever.
2. There are 2 mini 1394 ports directly on the edge of the card. So there is no dongle involved. I like it that way, because dongles gets lost, have to carry them seperately etc.
3. Comes with firewire cable & socket converter. I wasn't aware of those. So it was a bonus to me after receiving the product. These cables and the socket adpater do cost significantly in the market.
4. Comes with some basic video editing software. I don't really need it cause I have better software for that purpose. But it's nice to get that as bonus too.

Cons:
1. No online picture about the card & it's physical connections. Even manufacturer does not put the pictures of the ports on it's website. so the online buyers does not understand it properly.
2. No mention of windows vista support. I believe it is because the packaging is old, it should just work out of the box for vista, because the inside controler is standard TI chip.

Summary:
I am happy to get a product as expected with some bonus ad-ons.

Value for money

Feb 6, 2008 - By Jyoti V. Tindwani (India)

I bought this product after reading the only review on this product. The product is definitely worth the money and easy to use.

I was thinking of getting the firewire cable separately but the review on this product told me that it comes with the wire and the adapter and I immediately bought this one.

1. Two ports on this card separated nicely along the edge.
2. Ports in the card do not jut out like in most other cards, so the card/laptop does not look ugly. If you want to connect using the bigger socket then this card comes with a adaptor.
3. Cable provided which was a big help.
4. Software CD which contains a video editing software. I did not try it out as my XP already has windows movie maker but no harm in getting that software.

Love it so far

Best shopping experiment with Amazon

Mar 16, 2008 - By Zhongming Zhang

I ordered this card in Friday, and got it in Sat. What a surprise!

I slided the card into my T60p notebook, can it worked great without
any installation. I started capturing video using Premier Pro.

Highly recommend it.

Thank the other two reviewer who wrote details description.
