Amazing

(5 out of 5) by Steff on Jan 30, 2006 (Green Bay, WI)
This wall mount amazed me with the hardware included. Every screw that could be used with a TV out there was included. It was simple to install and does the job, why pay a lot more for a similar unit. It doesn't let you tilt the TV, but if you just look for a mount that allows you to hang your TV flat on the wall, this is the unit to buy. I used it for a 32" LCD flat panel.

Outstanding product -- the manufacturer has thought it out carefully

(5 out of 5) by Mark Bookworth on Jan 30, 2007 (Bermuda)
This is a very solid steel mount which easily handles our 40" LCD TV. The packaging is outstanding (really) in that all the hardware you need is enclosed in carefully compartmentalized plastic bags.

After mounting, you can slide the TV left or right a few inches if required. It is also possible to "lock" the TV to the mount but it is a bit of a pain as you need to use a specially designed (included) allan key and the screw is so close to the wall that you can't turn the key through 360 degrees. It also tend to dust your knuckles a bit as you turn it. Finally, it becomes impossible to tilt the TV out enough to change the cables at the back once the lock screw is tightened.

Once mounted, I found the TV to be very close to the wall so if you have component cables with long plugs they may touch the wall when the TV is in place.

When installing mounts like these, pay very close attention to the instructions as you must make sure there is a sound mechanical connection with a stud or cement block. Drywall alone will not work as a mounting surface. Mounting to metal studs is particularly troublesome.

I installed it on cinder block and plaster without difficulty. Thankfully the force applied by the TV is mostly downward rather than outward in the case of a tube TV so you can feel quite comfortable that the thing will stay put as long as you mount it carefully. Use a level.

It is just a pleasure to use such a well designed and carefully thought out product.

Does NOT fit MOST 42" or larger TVs!!!

(1 out of 5) by Socalraverboy on Nov 28, 2007 (West Hollywood, CA USA)
I was searching for a mount for my new 42" plasma TV, and found this on Amazon. Fortunately, I read the reviews and saw several complaints that this mount didn't fit certain TVs. I then went to the manufacturer's site, peerlessindustries.com, and looked up this model. Right on their product page for this item, the manufacturer warns that this model will NOT fit most TVs 42" and higher. So, unless you want to take a chance, don't get this if your TV is 42" or more. They really shouldn't sell a product named as a universal wall mount for 22"-49" TVs, then have a disclaimer on their site that it won't fit many 42"+ TVs!!! UPDATED 8/23/08- the disclaimer appears to be no longer on their site but I do not know if the product has actually been changed. If you search online you will find many complaints that the mount doesn't fit many 42"+ TVs, so be warned to be carefully when considering this.

Solid piece of hardware

(5 out of 5) by AS on Nov 17, 2006 (FL United States)
Very solid, well manufactured, very secure mounting bracket. I am not a fan of those cantilever arm mounts (use those only out of neccesity). And yes it this is a very low profile mounting bracket. A very smart purchase!

Of particular helpfull installation note, yes it is perhaps a bit more to install, but this will actually hold to plain dry wall (for a relatively small/medium LCD screen) the supplied plastic anchors completely wing out and open providing a secure backing. The giant and I do mean giant tapcon mounting bolts are actually too big to drive into the plastic anchors.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PRESCREW THEM BEFORE OR THEY WILL JUST SPIN IN THE WALL AND YOU WILL GET NO WHERE, HOLD THE PLASTIC ANCHOR WITH PLIARS AND YOU WILL BE ALL SET.

My studs were way off set for my choice of installation, I was able to grab onto one wood stud on the side, but becuase of the great anchors supplied I have full confidence holding to plain drywall.

Special note, if I did get the articulaing arm mounts (cantilever) I would have be screwed (bad), the small spacing (weight distribution) would NOT have held even my medium LCD panel. I would NOT have trusted those kinds of mounts.

Excellent value in a basic flat screen wall mount

(5 out of 5) by Chris Boylan on Aug 8, 2008 (Astoria, NY USA)
I ordered this for a friend to help mount his VIZIO 32-inch plasma HDTV on the wall. The mount came with an extensive set of mounting hardware for compatibility with multiple brands and models of flat screen TVs, and sure enough, one set was a perfect fit for the VIZIO VP322's metric mounting holes.

It's pretty basic - two parts mount to the back of the TV, one piece attaches to the wall. Hook the TV brackets onto the wall mount, tighten a couple of screws to lock it in place and you're done. The securing screws that fasten the TV bracket to the wall plate are a little hard to reach, but Peerless thoughtfully includes a long Allen screw driver which makes this pretty painless.

By the way, for those concerned about whether or nor this will fit your TV, the SF640 mount supports TVs with "mounting patterns" up to 17.73" wide and 12.94" high. This means that the mounting bolt holes in the back of your television can be no more than 17.73 inches apart (width) and no more than 12.94 inches apart (height). If your TV's mounting pattern is larger than this in either dimension then this is not the mount for you. The load capacity of the mount is up to 150 pounds so this should accommodate most flat panel TVs 46 inches or below (assuming the mounting pattern fits your TV and you mount it properly).

There is no tilt capability, but for the price this really can't be expected. All in all, a great value (with a 5-year warranty) and a high quality product.
