Great DVD Player

(5 out of 5) by Igor on Jul 7, 2008 (East Lansing, MI)
I own this player for about 3 years now and it is the most vercitile and helpful thing I own. It doesn't break down, the picture quality is great and it plays all formats and all region types. If you need a region free DVD player, this is it. You will not be dissapointed with it.

Good, Basic Portable DVD Player for NTSC/PAL!

(5 out of 5) by David Baltazar on Nov 13, 2008 (SAN JOSE, CA United States)
This review is for; Protron 7" Portable DVD Player - PDV-288 w/ Remote & Carrying Case

I never heard of the brand PROTRON before, but once in a while I get surprising, good quality from off-brand names that I never heard of. I just use this little DVD player at my office to kill time during my lunch hour, but from the little time that I have used it I have been very satisfied with it. The main feature about this portable DVD player that I like is it's ability to play PAL DVD's (PAL 1 & PAL 2) in addition to NTSC DVD'S. The included charger also works with 100 to 240 volts electrical outlets, so the use of this DVD player is really universal and good if you are traveling out of the country. The charger fully charges the battery in about three to four hours and the battery runs for about two-and-a-half hours. When you want to switch from NTSC to PAL all you have to do is go to the main menu and select TV Systems to change the region. Easy! No funny codes or key presses to hack into!

The unit also has composite (RCA) audio & video jacks so you can hook up another device such as a camcorder. There is also a coaxial jack if you want to hook it up to audio systems (not sure why?) and one headphone jack. To top it off the remote is nice and thin like a credit card (works great too!). I recommend this DVD player if you just want a basic, portable DVD player with a good NTSC/PAL capability.

Hard working & sturdy dvd player

(5 out of 5) by krishna morgenroth on Feb 19, 2009 (Corpus Christi, Texas)
We have two of these and let me tell you, they have been to hell and back. Purchased three years ago, one player gets strapped onto my child's jogging stroller for daily walks. Its been dropped several times and continues to play. Great deal for the $49 we paid for them.
